Determinantes do desmatamento histórico e recente da Amazônia na perspectiva da estatística espacial

open access: yesCadernos Gestão Pública e Cidadania
A Amazônia abriga a maior floresta tropical do mundo. Sua biodiversidade representa aproximadamente 15% de todas as espécies existentes, muitas endêmicas à região. No entanto, 21% de sua vegetação nativa no Brasil já foi devastada.

Racing Amidst Change: Urbanization and Climate Alter Functional Traits and Distribution of an Amazonian Parthenogenetic Lizard

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
By comparing native and neonative populations of an Amazonian lizard, we examine how urban environments and climate change impact its functional traits, while also predicting its future distribution. Our findings offer insights into how some species may adapt to human‐altered landscapes, showing that not all are negatively affected by these changes ...

AVALIAÇÃO DO DESMATAMENTO NA ESTAÇÃO ECOLÓGICA RASO DA CATARINA

open access: yes, 2017

Biases in Amphibian Sampling in the Amazon: Using Infrastructure and Accessibility Data to Identify Sampling Gaps

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
Biogeographic knowledge of Amazonian amphibians is constrained by spatial and temporal coverage, leading to biases that affect the understanding of their diversity patterns. Using an extensive occurrence database, this study identified knowledge gaps and sampling biases linked to infrastructure and accessibility factors across the region.

Surviving in the Amazon Arc of Deforestation: Richness and Defaunation of Mammals in Priority‐Protected Areas of the Brazilian Midwest

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 7, July 2025.
We found rich and compositionally different assemblages of medium and large‐sized mammals in protected areas on the southern edge of Amazon. However, both have high rates of mammal defaunation. We argue that anthropogenic threats in the Amazon Arc of Deforestation are eroding large ungulate populations, especially peccaries.

Estimating of gross primary production in an Amazon-Cerrado transitional forest using MODIS and Landsat imagery

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2015
The acceleration of the anthropogenic activity has increased the atmospheric carbon concentration, which causes changes in regional climate. The Gross Primary Production (GPP) is an important variable in the global carbon cycle studies, since it defines ...

Phosphorus analysis in soil under herbaceous perennial leguminous cover by nuclear magnetic spectroscopy Análise de fósforo em solo com leguminosas herbáceas perenes por meio de ressonância magnética nuclear

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2004
The availability and the reserves of organic phosphorus are controlled by its mineralization rate and are also influenced by changes in soil management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil covering with different leguminous ...

Assessing the value of biodiversity‐specific footprinting metrics linked to South American soy trade

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 6, Issue 5, Page 1742-1757, October 2024.
Abstract International demand for a small handful of commodities is a major driver of tropical deforestation and associated biodiversity loss. Previous commitments to reduce commodity‐driven deforestation have largely failed, yet there are currently various proposals in place globally, which aim to address the challenge of reducing overseas ...
