A Simple Graphene NH₃ Gas Sensor via Laser Direct Writing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Ammonia gas sensors are very essential in many industries and everyday life. However, their complicated fabrication process, severe environmental fabrication requirements and desorption of residual ammonia molecules result in high cost and hinder their ...

Tailoring the Properties of Functional Materials With N‐Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The properties of materials bearing N‐oxide groups are often dominated by the polar N+─O− bond. It provides hydrophilicity, selective ion‐binding, electric conductivity, or antifouling properties. Many of the underlying mechanisms have only recently been discovered, and the interest in N‐oxide materials is rapidly growing.

Unconventional MBE Strategies from Computer Simulations for Optimized Growth Conditions

open access: yes, 1999
We investigate the influence of step edge diffusion (SED) and desorption on Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) using kinetic Monte-Carlo simulations of the solid-on-solid (SOS) model.

Harmonizing the Pyrene and Ether Groups in Covalent Triazine Polymers for Highly Effective H2O2 Photosynthesis via One‐Step Two‐Electron Oxygen Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The pyrene and ether groups are incorporated into the covalent triazine polymer (CTP) structure. The synergistic effect of the two functional groups endows CTP with better electron transfer, light absorption, and oxygen activation properties. An impressive apparent quantum yield (13.2% @420 nm) and a remarkable solar‐to‐chemical conversion efficiency ...

Stabilizing Cationic Palladium Single‐Atom Sites on Heteroatom‐Doped Carbon for Selective Hydrogen Peroxide Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, it is demonstrated that dual nitrogen and sulfur doping in hollow carbon spheres creates a tunable coordination environment that stabilizes cationic Pd single atoms as robust organometallic complexes, enabling high selectivity and stability for electrochemical hydrogen peroxide production under harsh acidic and peroxide‐rich ...

Importance of boundary effects in diffusion of hydrocarbon molecules in a one-dimensional zeolite channel

open access: yes, 2010
Single-file diffusion of propane and toluene molecules inside a narrow, effectively one-dimensional zeolite pore was experimentally studied by Czaplewski {\sl et al.} Using a stochastic lattice gas approach, we obtain an analytical description of this ...

Magnetic and Structural Response Tuned by Coexisting Mn Concentration‐Dependent Phases in MnBi2Te4 Thin Film Grown on GaAs(001) by Molecular Beam Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study explores structural and magnetic properties of one of the most recent topological quantum materials (MnBi2Te4). The Mn‐poor structure leads to stacking faults (quintuple layer ‐ QL of Bi2Te3 formation instead of a septuple layer ‐ SL of MnBi2Te4), resulting in a coexistence between weak antiferromagnetism and ferromagnetism.

Strongly Enhanced Thermal Stability of Crystalline Organic Thin Films Induced by Aluminum Oxide Capping Layers

open access: yes, 2004
We show that the thermal stability of thin films of the organic semiconductor diindenoperylene (DIP) can be strongly enhanced by aluminum oxide capping layers.
