Canadian boreal restored mining sites sustain diverse pollinator communities, including species of conservation concern

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Revegetated mine tailing storage facilities support pollinator abundance, diversity, richness and evenness comparable to recently logged boreal forest sites. Agronomic and spontaneous revegetation strategies host similar pollinator and Bombus community structures, indicating multiple rehabilitation approaches can effectively restore pollinator habitat.

Electroreductive Desulfurization of Thioacetals

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
A metal‐free electrochemical protocol enabled desulfurization of thioacetals under ambient conditions. Aryl substituents on sulfur act as internal electroauxiliaries to promote C(sp3)─S bond cleavage via a radical pathway, effectively serving as alternative to the Mozingo reduction.

Wafer‐Scale 2D High‐Entropy Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Thin‐Film Catalysts for Efficient and Durable Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 32, 8 June 2026.
A wafer‐scale 2D high‐entropy (MoWTaNbRu)S2 thin‐film catalyst with a distorted 1T phase integrated onto p‐Si photocathode is designed for highly efficient and durable photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction. The high‐entropy effect in layered transition metal dichalcogenides optimizes hydrogen adsorption energetics, accelerates photogenerated

Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Deciphering pH Behavior in Deep Eutectic Solvents: Synergizing Experimental Data and Computational Modeling

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Proton activity in deep eutectic solvents (DESs) remains difficult to quantify. Here, pH in hydrophilic and hydrophobic DESs is probed by combining glass electrode measurements with ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) pH indicators and Gaussian process (GP) machine learning (ML).

DEM–CFD Investigation of Packing Structure Effects on the Thermal Decomposition of Limestone

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 6, June 2026.
A coupled DEM–CFD–DOM model is developed to study the calcination of limestone in moving particle beds. By incorporating local porosity effects, the model captures how packing density influences radiative heat transfer and reaction progress. Results show calcination degree decreases with increasing packing density.

Agronomic and Environmental Benefits of Recovered Gypsum for Sulfur Fertilization in Camelina for Biofuel Production

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 6, June 2026.
Camelina sativa, a low‐input oilseed for biofuel production, was evaluated under different sulfur fertilization strategies using recycled gypsum as a S‐source. Adding a moderate sulfur supply (40 kg ha−1) to regular nitrogen fertilization increased crop productivity and reduced environmental impacts, including emissions associated with iLUC, supporting

Unlocking the Functionalization and Reactivity of Ethylene Bridges in [2.2]Paracyclophanes: Strategies and Challenges

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 20, 27 May 2026.
Bridging the gap. Beyond deck functionalization, the ethylene bridges of [2.2]paracyclophanes offer a largely unexploited reactivity landscape. This review showcases strategies to functionalize these bridges and leverage them to build novel cyclophane architectures.
