Comparison of self-referencing techniques for photothermal detection of trace compounds in water [PDF]
Self-referencing techniques are compared for a closed-cell photothermal detector that uses a water meniscus as a pressure sensor. Deflection of the meniscus was measured using an optical fibre Fabry–Perot interferometer.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

An exploration of vibration based damage detection techniques for composite materials
Structural damage monitoring is inevitable for the structures to perform during their intended service life adroitly. In the present review, literature related to techniques for diagnosing vibration-intensive damages have been evaluated in order to ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Edge Detection Techniques for Quantifying Spatial Imaging System Performance and Image Quality [PDF]
Measuring camera system performance and associating it directly to image quality is very relevant, whether images are aimed for viewing, or as input to machine learning and automated recognition algorithms.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Research progress on the N protein of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a highly contagious disease caused by the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). PRRSV exhibits genetic diversity and complexity in terms of immune responses, posing challenges

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
