Hermione Granger as Young Girl Sleuth in the Harry Potter Series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Reappearing in the long tradition of girl sleuths such as Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew, Hermione Granger interrupts the centrality of the male-fantasy-adventure in the Harry Potter series.

Start, Stop, Rewind, Repeat—Cyclic Exposure of Adipose Stromal Cells‐derived Cartilage Organoids to Chondrogenic and Proliferative Cues to Achieve Scaled‐up and Customizable Bone Formation by Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study exploits the plasticity of ASCs‐derived cartilage organoids which generate a perichondrial layer of MSCs when exposed to cyclic chondrogenic/proliferative cues. Using these organoids as building blocks, we develop (i) Phalange Shaped Tissue Engineered Cartilage (Pa‐TECs), recapitulating endochondral ossification suitable for the treatment of

Gamboa, primer detective literario platense [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
En este trabajo se analiza el primer relato policial de Enrique Anderson Imbert, “Las deducciones del detective Gamboa”, nunca abordado por la crítica. El autor sostiene que en este texto puede percibirse un quiebre con la corriente más importante de la ...

Disk Detective: Discovery of New Circumstellar Disk Candidates through Citizen Science [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Disk Detective citizen science project aims to find new stars with 22 micron excess emission from circumstellar dust using data from NASA's WISE mission. Initial cuts on the AllWISE catalog provide an input catalog of 277,686 sources. Volunteers then

Stepwise On‐Surface Synthesis and Transformations of Two‐Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks by Controlled Thermal Stimuli

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The seminal transformation of a 2D‐COF (SURFCOF‐IMDEA1) into a 2D porous COF (SURFCOF‐IMDEA2) on Au(111) by a sequential C‐C coupling and ladderization triggered by thermal annealing steps at increasing temperatures is reported. Abstract The development of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is currently a primary objective in materials science, taking ...

Beyond Detectability [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Air & Waste Management Association, 1999
Part of the input to a dispersion model consists of a source odor concentration that typically is determined by a panel of six to eight observers using a forced choice dynamic triangle olfactometer. A series of dilutions of the sampled odor are presented and the dilution at which one-half of the panel can detect odor is considered to be the source odor

A Soft Microrobot for Single‐Cell Transport, Spheroid Assembly, and Dual‐Mode Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, untethered hydrogel microrobot enables precise single‐cell delivery, self‐assembly into 3D spheroids, and real‐time thermal actuation. Driven by light‐induced convection and embedded with gold nanorods and temperature sensors, the microrobot guides cells, modulates local microenvironments, and supports drug testing.

The heuristic conception of inference to the best explanation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
An influential suggestion about the relationship between Bayesianism and inference to the best explanation holds that IBE functions as a heuristic to approximate Bayesian reasoning.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

STRUCTURAL AND STYLISTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF DETECTIVE STORIES BY G. SIMENON

open access: yesГуманитарные и юридические исследования, 2021
Key factor to include a text into detective discourse is detective frame. The most important characteristics of G. Simenon's language are stylistic figures that are based on detective vocabulary and are frequent in writer's prose.
