Ice detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
An ice detector is provided for the determination of the thickness of ice on the outer surface on an object (e.g., aircraft) independently of temperature or the composition of the ice.

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

The detection of pilot‐induced oscillations

open access: yesAviation, 2007
Fly‐by‐wire systems enable superior control of chosen flight parameters. A pilot can modify stabilized parameters by adequate movement of control inceptors such as a side‐stick or trust lever.

YOLBO: You Only Look Back Once–A Low Latency Object Tracker Based on YOLO and Optical Flow

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
One common computer vision task is to track an object as it moves from frame to frame within a video sequence. There are a myriad of applications for such capability and the underlying technologies to achieve this tracking are very well understood.

PIP: a large solid angle detector for protons and pions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A ~1 sr solid angle detector for protons of up to ~200 MeV, and for pions of up to ~250 MeV energy is described. The detector has been developed to provide a charged particle trigger for use in (gamma,2N) and (gamma,piN) experiments with tagged photons ...

Quantum detection of electronic flying qubits

open access: yes, 2008
We consider a model of a detector of ballistic electrons at the edge of a two-dimensional electron gas in the integer quantum Hall regime. The electron is detected by capacitive coupling to a gate which is also coupled to a passive RC circuit.

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

Adaptive and Iterative Multi-Branch MMSE Decision Feedback Detection Algorithms for MIMO Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work, decision feedback (DF) detection algorithms based on multiple processing branches for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing systems are proposed.
