Summary form only given. This paper presents the design criteria for the detent force reduction of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) with Halbach array. There are three approaches to improve the power efficiency of short PM pole-type LSMs: (1) the comparison of the magnetic field and forces of two types of PMLSM-a PMLSM with a ...

A New Method for Reduction of Detent Force in Permanent Magnet Flux-Switching Linear Motors
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009The permanent magnet (PM) flux-switching linear motor, which is developed from the PM flux-switching rotary machine, possesses similar advantages such as high power density and simple structure. Furthermore, the PM flux-switching linear motor has a potential for mass production at low cost, since the expensive coils and magnets are both set on the ...

Linear permanent magnet vernier machines (LPMVMs) have attracted more and more attention last several years due to its high thrust density at low speed, which is very suitable for the direct-drive applications. In this paper, the dual-side toroidal-winding LPMVM with unequal end-teeth width is proposed for the reduction of the detent force and thrust ...

The detent force in permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is caused by the attraction between the permanent magnet (PM) and the iron core without input current. It can be divided into two components: the slot effect and the end effect. This paper proposes a novel technique to reduce the end effect of detent force using auxiliary poles.

This paper analytically and experimentally shows effectiveness and simplicity of mover teeth arrangement design, which dramatically reduces detent force and consequently speed ripple at low speed. For this purpose, this paper describes two design steps that include the conventional magnetic circuit optimization by response surface methodology (RSM) and

This paper proposes two different techniques to reduce detent force in flat permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM). The first one is the choice of an optimal constructive design, taking into account the width and arrangement of the magnets, and the length and shape of the solid iron core.

This paper studies an auxiliary poles technique that is used to reduce the end effect detent force for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). Based on the lateral force method, the analytical model of the end effect detent force is built.

This paper proposes a novel detent force reduction method for subway applications, in which four primary permanent magnet liner motors (PMLMs) are employed in traction system. The detent force of the traction system is influenced by space distance between movers. The detent force can be reduced twice by setting optimal space distances.

A novel configuration for reducing end-effect detent force for a high thrust transverse flux linear synchronous motor is presented. The method is based on principle of destructive superposition of harmonic orders in detent force waveform. It is achieved by splitting a linear motor, with a high slot-pole combination into three separate sections ...

This paper reports the methodological approaches to detent force reduction in the steel-cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM). For the detail investigations and overviews on the detent force, analytic solutions considering the various reluctances in the air-gap were obtained using the Space Harmonic Method.
