Impact of Metastatic Patterns on Survival and Response to Therapy in Neuroblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background While the presence of metastases in neuroblastoma (NB) is a well‐established prognostic factor, the clinical significance of dissemination patterns and tumour burden and their impact on response and survival remains poorly understood.

Programming of Complex Magnetic Profiles Enforced by 4D Printed Magnetic LCE Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
A 4D printing‐enabled magnetic programming strategy is introduced in which thermally actuated liquid crystal elastomers are magnetized in their target shape to encode complex three‐dimensional magnetic profiles. The resulting actuators achieve multistate shape morphing and programmable locomotion under low magnetic fields, without requiring specialized

Climate Exposures Increase the Risk of Anemia Among Reproductive‐Age Women in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Biology, Volume 38, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change is having significant demographic and health impacts on human populations around the world. There is growing empirical evidence about the impacts of climate variability and change on population health, but this work has focused disproportionately on children and aggregate indicators of weight and (or) height.

Secular Trend in Age at Menarche and Associated Determinants in the Valencian Population (Spain)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Biology, Volume 38, Issue 9, September 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates changes in age at menarche in the Valencian population (Spain) over nearly eight decades and its association with anthropometric and sociodemographic factors. ABSTRACT Objective To assess secular trend in age at menarche spanning nearly eight decades and to explore variations in these patterns according to selected ...

Genome‐Wide Association Study of Symptom Change Following Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Common Mental Disorders

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 201, Issue 6, Page 396-405, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a well‐established, evidence‐based treatment for common mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, and obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD). However, treatment outcomes vary widely, and a substantial proportion of patients do not achieve sufficient improvement.

A Global Prospective Harmonization Framework for Suicidality, Anhedonia, and Obsessive‐Compulsive Symptoms in Psychiatric Genetic Studies: A Cross‐Continental Study Within the Ancestral Population Network

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 201, Issue 6, Page 379-395, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to prospectively collect harmonized, quantitative, and dimensional psychiatric phenotypes (suicidality, anhedonia, and obsessive‐compulsive symptoms) and information on discrimination, stigma, and unfair treatment in up to 27,500 individuals across diverse ancestries and clinical populations for genetic analysis within the NIMH

The Baboon as a Model to Study Human Health and Complex Disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 9, September 2026.
Baboons remain underappreciated as models of human biology and disease offering a distinct combination of biological and practical properties. In this review, we evaluate the baboon as a model for human complex diseases and make the case for broader use of baboons in translational research.

Adverse policing as a social exposome pathway: Implications for depression, cognition, and dementia risk

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The social exposome is increasingly recognized as a key determinant for cognitive health. Adverse policing represents an understudied aspect of the social exposome, reflecting persistent encounters with punitive surveillance and law enforcement that accumulate as chronic structural stressors across the life span.

Operationalizing Alzheimer's disease trials in the era of targeted therapies

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The therapeutic landscape of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is rapidly evolving with the clinical adoption of anti‐amyloid monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) despite an incomplete understanding of disease mechanisms, progression, and heterogeneity. Designing both observational longitudinal cohorts and clinical trials with novel mAbs in mind is imperative.

Post mortem MRI of cholinergic white matter pathways across neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Cholinergic white matter pathway (CWMP) degeneration is central in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Lewy body disease (LBD). CWMP degeneration can be assessed in vivo using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) proxies, but neuropathological validation is limited.
