Microarchitecture sculpting via phase separation programs hydrogel mechanics by creating globular, inverse globular, and spinodal structures. Spinodal architectures deliver superior toughness and energy dissipation, while ionic modulation through single polymer phase separation offers a simple, scalable route to tune mechanical properties ...

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Dynamic Regimes of El Niño Southern Oscillation and Influenza Pandemic Timing
El Niño southern oscillation (ENSO) dynamics has been shown to drive seasonal influenza dynamics. Severe seasonal influenza epidemics and the 2009–2010 pandemic were coincident with chaotic regime of ENSO dynamics.

Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Catalytic Space: Non-determinism and Hierarchy
Catalytic computation, defined by Buhrman, Cleve, Koucký, Loff and Speelman (STOC 2014), is a space-bounded computation where in addition to our working memory we have an exponentially larger auxiliary memory which is full; the auxiliary memory may be ...

The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...

Light‐Induced Entropy for Secure Vision
This work realized a ternary true random number generator by exploiting stochastic traps emerging within multiple junction interfaces, and quantitatively validated the generation of high‐quality random numbers. Furthermore, it successfully demonstrated diverse applications, including AI‐resilient image security, thereby providing a valuable guide for ...

Free will, determinism, and compatibilism: Blind spots in the theoretical landscape [PDF]
Philosophical discourse on 'the' problem of free will has been shaped by three basic options: Libertarianism (accept free will and incompatibility, but deny determinism), hard determinism (accept determinism and incompatibility, but deny free will), and ...

Precursor carbon stoichiometry programs internal strain and oxygen substitution in Ti3AlCxO2‐x, deterministically switching Ti3CxO2‐xTz MXenes between highly aligned 2D nanosheets and spontaneous 1D nanoscrolls. This synthesis‐stage architecture control enables ultrathin X/W‐band EMI shielding with outstanding mass‐normalized performance and bending ...
