Determinism beneath Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Contrary to common belief, it is not difficult to construct deterministic models where stochastic behavior is correctly described by quantum mechanical amplitudes, in precise accordance with the Copenhagen-Bohr-Bohm doctrine. What is difficult however is

Integer group determinants for small groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
For every group of order at most 14 we determine the values taken by its group determinant when its variables are integers.

Large Spin‐Orbit Torque with Multi‐Directional Spin Components in Ni4W

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ni4W is theoretically proposed and experimentally verified as a promising unconventional spin‐orbit torque (SOT) material for generating multi‐directional spins. Epitaxial Ni4W thin films with outstanding crystallinity are grown by magnetron sputtering.

The integer group determinants for the symmetric group of degree four [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
For the symmetric group $S_4$ we determine all the integer values taken by its group determinant when the matrix entries are integers.

High Entropy Alloy Thin Films as Efficient Spin‐Orbit Torque Sources for Spintronic Memories

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy alloys with significantly diluted heavy metal content are found to be a very efficient source of spin‐orbit torques for spintronic applications. Epitaxially‐grown 4‐, 5‐, 6‐element alloy thin films are successfully integrated in magnetic racetrack memory devices, showing efficient domain wall motion, thereby adding a large family of ...

Gauß-Manin determinant connections and periods for irregular connections [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1999
Gau{\ss}-Manin determinant connections associated to irregular connections on a curve are studied. The determinant of the Fourier transform of an irregular connection is calculated. The determinant of cohomology of the standard rank 2 Kloosterman sheaf is computed modulo 2 torsion.

Enhanced Polariton Interactions in Suspended WS2 Monolayer Microcavity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Monolayers of transition‐metal dichalcogenides exhibit strong exciton resonances for light‐matter interactions at RT, though substrate effects limit performance. This work presents a planar microcavity with a suspended WS2 monolayer, eliminating substrate‐induced losses.

Some identities for determinants of structured matrices [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
In this paper we establish several relations between the determinants of the following structured matrices: Hankel matrices, symmetric Toeplitz + Hankel matrices and Toeplitz matrices. Using known results for the asymptotic behavior of Toeplitz determinants, these identities are used in order to obtain Fisher-Hartwig type results on the asymptotics of ...

Electric‐Field‐Driven Reversal of Ferromagnetism in (110)‐Oriented, Single Phase, Multiferroic Co‐Substituted BiFeO3 Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electric‐field‐induced magnetization reversal is a long‐sought‐after achievement in materials engineering for use in next‐generation, ultra‐low power consumption memory devices. This work demonstrates fully electric‐field‐driven switching of the out‐of‐plane component of magnetization in (110)‐oriented Co‐substituted BiFeO3 thin films at room ...

Black Hole Evaporation Entails an Objective Passage of Time [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Time's apparent passage has long been debated by philosophers, with no decisive argument for or against its objective existence. In this paper we show that introducing the issue of determinism gives the debate a new, empirical twist.
