Overcoming non-determinism in testing smart devices: how to build models of device behaviour [PDF]
Justification of smart instruments has become an important topic in the nuclear industry. In practice, however, the publicly available artefacts are often the only source of information about the device.

Direct sums of zero product determined algebras [PDF]
We reformulate the definition of a zero product determined algebra in terms of tensor products and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for an algebra to be zero product determined. These conditions allow us to prove that the direct sum \bigoplus_{i \in I} A_i of algebras for any index set I is zero product determined if and only if each of the ...

Detecting single molecules on large interfaces is challenging due to minimal perturbations on the sensing surface. Some biological systems achieve this feat using amplification mechanisms, but their molecular foundations remain unclear. To investigate, a Design of Experiments (DoE) approach examines how pH and ionic strength in conditioning solutions ...

Correlation integral and determinism for a family of $2^\infty$ maps [PDF]
The correlation integral and determinism are quantitative characteristics of a dynamical system based on the recurrence of orbits. For strongly non-chaotic interval maps, the determinism equals 1 for every small enough threshold. This means that trajectories of such systems are perfectly predictable in the infinite horizon.

Printed Interconnects for Heterogeneous Systems Integration on Flexible Substrates
Key components (sensors, energy devices, communication devices, computing chips, and interconnects) of flexible hybrid electronic (FHE) system connected via conductive printed metal tracks. The figure in the insets shows out‐of‐plane printed interconnects providing opportunities for lithography‐free formation of VIAs, in‐plane access of UTCs pads, and ...

Determinism and the possibility of morality
The possibility of morality in a causally determined physical world engages philosophers in a serious debate. Many philosophers think that morality is not possible in a world where everything, including human actions, is determined by antecedent causal ...

The Varchenko Determinant of a Coxeter Arrangement [PDF]
The Varchenko determinant is the determinant of a matrix defined from an arrangement of hyperplanes. Varchenko proved that this determinant has a beautiful factorization. It is, however, not possible to use this factorization to compute a Varchenko determinant from a certain level of complexity.

Photonic Crystal Enhanced Microscopy on a 2D Photonic Crystal Surface
This work demonstrates the design, fabrication, and the first‐time test of a 2D photonic crystal surface for photonic resonator absorption microscopy. The designed surface uniformly enhances electromagnetic near fields, achieving > 100% improved detecting uniformity for surface‐captured AuNPs from a blocking biosensor assay aimed for detecting SARS‐CoV‐

Determiners are a nominal syntactic category distinct both from adjectives and nouns, despite the close affinity among them. They are commonly understood to comprise the word classes of article, demonstrative, and quantifier, as well as some possessives and some nominal agreement markers.
