DETERMINISTIC SEISMIC HAZARD ANALYSIS OF ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLANDS
Journal of Earthquake and Tsunami, 2013An important component of hazard mitigation is to estimate the future hazard for design calculations. In the present study, a deterministic seismic hazard assessment of Andaman and Nicobar region is carried out, which is one of the most seismically active regions of India.

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2020
Bengkulu City is one of cities in Indonesia, which is located on the west coastline of Sumatra. Within last two decades, Bengkulu City had undergone at least two large earthquakes with magnitudes ≥ Mw 7.0. This paper presents a study of deterministic seismic hazard for Bengkulu City.

Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis for the State of Haryana, India
Indian Geotechnical Journal, 2015The Indian state of Haryana is in a phase of rapid industrial development. In order to help engineers and town planners in designing earthquake resistant structures, it is necessary to carry out site specific seismic hazard analysis and plan mitigation measures.

Deterministic and probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for Gwadar City, Pakistan
Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2012Gwadar City is located at the coastline of Pakistan. The city is currently in a phase of development, which is expected to become a future economic hub for Pakistan. This has led us to choose Gwadar for seismic hazard evaluation. Seismic hazard analysis for Gwadar is carried out using deterministic and probabilistic seismic hazard analysis techniques ...

Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis of a Highway Sector with GIS
Geo-Frontiers 2011, 2011Deterministic seismic hazard assessment of a 16 km long road sector was done using GIS tools. The analysis was done by calculating the factor of safety against sliding for each 2 m × 2 m cylinder of soil using the slope stability analysis equations for the translational failure that were modified for horizontal ground motion.

Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis of Central Gujarat Region
2018The microzonation study of a particular region can be carried out by Deterministic Seismic Hazard Analysis (DSHA) approach. Gujarat is situated in a stable continental region of India which has experienced two severe destructive earthquakes in Kutch 1819 (Mw 7.8) and Bhuj 2001 (Mw 7.7) and seven earthquakes of magnitude Mw ≥ 6.0 during past two ...

Abstract The simulation of appropriate ground motion is the main objective in earthquake-resistant designing to mitigate the impact of landslides and structural damages. The seismic hazard studies serve as the basis for quantifying the hazard associated within the particular area over a given time period. In this study, the detailed site

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2000
Abstract A methodology is proposed to determine design earthquakes for site-specific studies such as the siting of critical structures (power plants, waste disposals, large dams, etc.), strategic structures (fire stations, military commands, hospitals, etc.), or for seismic microzoning studies, matching the results of probabilistic seismic hazard ...

Deterministic versus probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for critical structures
Engineering Geology, 1995Abstract Probabilistic seismic hazard analysis has been practically unchallenged since its inception three decades ago. However, information has been accumulating which shows convincingly that PSHA is a defective procedure. Its greatest weakness is the dependence of the probability theory on the Gutenberg-Richter magnitude and a recurrence relation ...
