Probabilistic Modelling of the Seismic Hazard using the Romanian Earthquake Catalogue [PDF]
The actual trend of performance based modelling of the seismic action is to adopt probabilistic models of the seismic hazard. In the first part of the paper are presented theoretical aspects of the seismic hazard definition from the probabilistic point ...

ABSTRACT Steel Concentrically Braced Frames (CBFs) are widely used in seismic regions, with chevron and split‐X configurations commonly adopted for their structural efficiency and architectural flexibility. Although extensive research has been carried out on these systems, the effectiveness of the formulations available in the literature for estimating

Including non-stationary magnitude-frequency distributions in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis [PDF]
We describe a first principles methodology to evaluate statistically the hazard related to non-stationary seismic sources like induced seismicity. We use time-dependent Gutenberg-Richter parameters, leading to a time-varying rate of earthquakes.

Probabilistic and Deterministic Seismic Hazard Assessments of the area comprised between west Gulf of Cádiz and east Alboran Sea [PDF]
The increased deployment of subsea infrastructures and the exploration of marine resources have heightened the need to assess seismic hazard on the seabed, especially in tectonically active offshore regions.

ABSTRACT Considering the needs for reducing carbon emissions and except for extreme cases of very degraded existing structures, research on technologies allowing continued use or upgrading of older buildings has become a priority topic. Generally, research on upgrading of reinforced concrete frame structures certainly has a prominent role, because of ...

ABSTRACT Retaining walls are key geotechnical components of road infrastructure, whose seismic performance directly affects the resilience of transportation networks. Despite their importance, seismic fragility models for retaining walls available in the literature refer only to specific case studies.

Complex Versus Parsimonious Site‐Based Stochastic Ground Motion Models: Which One Is Better?
ABSTRACT Stochastic ground motion models (GMMs) provide a probabilistic representation of seismic input and are increasingly important for uncertainty quantification (UQ) in earthquake engineering. This study focuses on site‐based stochastic GMMs, which learn the statistical features of selected datasets of seismic records and generate statistically ...
