Detrended Fluctuation Analysis of uterine electromyography

2011 1st Middle East Conference on Biomedical Engineering, 2011
In respect to the main goal of our ongoing work for predicting preterm birth, we analyze in this paper uterine EMG recordings of 11 pregnant and laboring women by means of Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA), a scaling analysis method that quantifies a simple parameter to represent the correlation properties of a time series.

EFFECT OF FILTERS ON MULTIVARIATE MULTIFRACTAL DETRENDED FLUCTUATION ANALYSIS

Fractals, 2021
We investigate how various linear and nonlinear filters affect the scaling properties of long-range power-law multivariate synthetic series quantified by multivariate multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MV-MFDFA). We consider four types of transforms which are often encountered in physical and physiological processes: linear, nonlinear ...

Detrended fluctuation analysis using orthogonal polynomials

Physical Review E, 2020
An alternative analysis approach, namely, orthogonal detrended fluctuation analysis (ODFA), is proposed to quantify the long-range correlation exponent. This method uses an orthogonal polynomial to attenuate any trends and quantify the (auto-) correlations in the data. The method is tested using numerically simulated data with long-range correlation. A

Smoothed detrended fluctuation analysis

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2016
ABSTRACTThe method of detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) is useful in revealing the extent of long-range dependence, it has successfully been applied to different fields of interest. In this paper we proposed a smoothed detrended fluctuation analysis method based on the principle of wavelet shrinkage.

Detrended Fluctuation Analysis of Traffic Data

Chinese Physics Letters, 2007
Different routing strategies may result in different behaviour of traffic on internet. We analyse the correlation of traffic data for three typical routing strategies by the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and find that the degree of correlation of the data can be divided into three regions, i.e. weak, medium, and strong correlation.

Evenly spacing in Detrended Fluctuation Analysis

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2016
Abstract Detrended Fluctuation Analysis is a widely used method, which aims at assessing the level of self-similarity in time series. This method analyzes the diffusion properties of the signal, by computing the linear regression slope in the diffusion plot, representing in log–log coordinates the relationship between the variability of the signal ...

Effects of quantization on detrended fluctuation analysis

Chinese Physics B, 2011
Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) is a method foro estimating the long-range power-law correlation exponent in noisy signals. It has been used successfully in many different fields, especially in the research of physiological signals. As an inherent part of these studies, quantization of continuous signals is inevitable. In addition, coarse-graining,

MULTIFRACTAL DETRENDED FLUCTUATIONS ANALYSIS FOR IBOVESPA ASSETS

Fractals, 2021
The Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) can be considered the central pillar of support of the Modern Economic-Financial Theory. However, in the last few years, the EMH has been strongly contraried due to empirical evidence related to long-memory, fractal dimension and fat-tailed that were critical factors in formulating a theory opposed to EMH called ...

Detrended fluctuation analysis of repetitive handwriting

2017 International Conference on Noise and Fluctuations (ICNF), 2017
Although there is a tendency that the opportunity to write by hand is decreasing, handwriting is still one of the everyday activities of our lives. In this study, the experimental system that limits the writing speed of a subject was set up. The aim was to measure the fluctuation time series of a time element obtained from the measurement performed ...

Detrended Fluctuation Analysis of EEG as a Measure of Depth of Anesthesia

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2007
For several decades, a number of methods have been developed for the noninvasive assessment of the level of consciousness during general anesthesia. In this paper, detrended fluctuation analysis is used to study the scaling behavior of the electroencephalogram as a measure of the level of consciousness.
