Evaluate the Prediction Level of Polar Motion Interpolation for 6 hr in Ideal and Real Environments

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract With the increasing demands for global development, deep space exploration missions are taking place more frequently, rendering the traditional 24‐hr Polar Motion (PM) predictions inadequate for supporting the frequent operations of spacecraft.

Global Responses of Phytoplankton Size Structure to Marine Heatwaves

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Marine heatwaves (MHWs) are receiving fast‐growing attention due to their devastating ecological and socioeconomic impacts under global warming. Despite studies on the response of phytoplankton abundance to MHWs, their effects on phytoplankton size structure (PSS), a crucial property of phytoplankton community, are poorly understood.

A Survey of Atmospheric Gravity Waves Observed by GOLD During Quiet to Moderate Solar and Geomagnetic Activity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Atmospheric gravity waves (GWs) are believed to transport energy and momentum between different regions of the atmosphere. Historically, observations of these waves from both ground and space have been relatively abundant at altitudes up to the lower thermosphere, and somewhat less abundant in the upper thermosphere and F‐region ionosphere ...

Role of Large‐Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances in the Positive Storm Phase Observed by the Millstone Hill Radar and GNSS TEC Measurements

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract A moderate geomagnetic storm was driven by high‐speed solar wind stream on 14 March 2016. We show that large‐scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (LSTIDs) played a significant role in producing the ionospheric storm positive phase at mid‐latitudes in the North American sector.

Assessment of the Generation of Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances by Solar Terminators

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The generation of traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) near solar terminators has been predicted, and several studies have reported the detection of TIDs associated with sunrise. However, there are also observations that do not show TID signatures at sunrise.
