Abstract The framework of the Impact Cratering Committee (ICC) of the Meteoritical Society was approved in 2020, with the first committee members appointed in 2023. The ICC has a mandate to (1) approve, maintain, and update a database of confirmed terrestrial meteorite impact structures, (2) define and regularly update the criteria used for ...

A database of detrital zircon U–Pb ages and Lu–Hf isotope of sediments in the South China Sea
Source‐to‐sink analysis examines the effects of source areas and basin (sink) dynamics on the generation, transport, composition, distribution and deposition of sediment in modern and ancient sedimentary systems.

Detrital geochronology provides insight into a broad range of Earth Science questions. However, detrital zircon U‐Pb age distributions are inherently univariate, and thus quantitative comparison methods are limited to one‐dimension (1D) and subject to ...

Detrital Avalonian zircons in the Laurentian Southern Uplands terrane, Scotland [PDF]
The Silurian–Ordovician Southern Uplands terrane occupies a key position in the Caledonian orogen, yet its genesis is controversial. Marginal-basin, backarc, and forearc tectonic regimes have all been invoked as operative at the Laurentian margin of the Iapetus Ocean.

Abstract Within the Danian Scaglia Rossa Formation appears a regionally correlatable horizon cutting across multiple sections and outcrops within the Umbria–Marche Basin of NE Italy, where it is intercalated with uniform pelagic carbonate successions. This horizon is called “ALE layer” and has tentatively been interpreted as a fine‐grained volcanic ash.

ABSTRACT The integrated analysis of lithofacies, mineralogy and geochemistry of the hemipelagic marine succession exposed in La Cerradura section (South‐Iberian Palaeomargin) provides new information to characterise the palaeoenvironmental conditions during the latest Pliensbachian to early Toarcian, including the Jenkyns Event.

Melting by impact heating is thought to have been a significant process in the modification of early planetary crusts; however, crustally derived melt bodies in ancient terrestrial crust are frequently presumed to be absent due to erosion.
