[Pathophysiology of detrusor underactivity in the elderly].

Progres en urologie : journal de l'Association francaise d'urologie et de la Societe francaise d'urologie, 2017
The aim of this study was to review the evidence regarding the pathophysiology of detrusor underactivity in the elderly.A literature review was conducted in July 2016 using the Medline/Pubmed database limiting the search to works in English or French. The prevalence of detrusor underactivity has been reported to range from 8% to 48% depending on the ...

Detrusor Underactivity Model in Rats by Conus Medullaris Transection

Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2020
The goal of the presented protocol was to establish a detrusor underactivity (DU) model in the rat through conus medullaris transection. Laminectomy was performed in a total of 40 female Wistar rats (control group: 10 rats; test group: 30 rats) weighing 200-220 g, and the conus medullaris was transected at the L4‒L5 level in the test group.

Non-invasive Diagnostics for Detrusor Underactivity/Underactive Bladder

2016
Currently pressure flow urodynamic studies are the only accepted method to establish the diagnosis of detrusor underactivity (du). Symptoms and signs cannot accurately establish the presence of du given the overlap with bladder outlet obstruction (boo).

Pathophysiological mechanisms in detrusor underactivity: Novel experimental findings

LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, 2019
Underactive bladder (UAB) is a multifactorial symptom complex often related to detrusor underactivity (DU). Although recognized as a common cause of lower urinary tract symptoms and with significant effects on quality of life, UAB/DU is largely underresearched.

Residual urine, underactive detrusor function, and the nature of detrusor/sphincter dyssynergia

Neurourology and Urodynamics, 1983
AbstractIn a group of 280 patients with mixed pathology the adequacy of the detrusor contraction during voiding has been assessed by a new method. For the group as a whole, residual urine is nearly always the result of the fading away of the detrusor contraction and rarely of premature sphincter contraction.
