Detuned Electrical Dipoles for Plasmonic Sensing

Nano Letters, 2010
We demonstrate that a pair of electrical dipolar scatterers resonating at different frequencies, i.e., detuned electrical dipoles, can be advantageously employed for plasmonic sensing of the environment, both as an individual subwavelength-sized sensor and as a unit cell of a periodic array. It is shown that the usage of the ratio between the powers of

Detuning detection in induction motors

2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004
In this article we present a model-based scheme to detect detuned indirect field oriented controllers in current fed induction motors. The detection scheme is based on differential geometric techniques. Numerical simulations validate the monitoring scheme.

Strongly Detuned Tunable Photonic Oscillators

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2021
A semi-analytical dimensionless formula is presented for predicting the period-one frequency of an optically-injected laser over a wide range of injection powers and positive detunings. The result shows that for any given injected optical power, there exists an optimal detuning at which the period-one frequency is maximized. The formula is applied to a

Detuning in Mode Coupled Waveguides

Advanced Photonics Congress, 2012
The different propagation speeds in glass and silicon waveguides detunes their coupling. We demonstrate conditions under which maximal power transfer can still be achieved.

Superradiance from slightly detuned sources

Physics Letters A, 1979
Abstract We present a new quantum theory of superradiant emission by an assembly of sources having slightly different resonance frequencies. It shows that, if the new condition T R T D ∗ 2 ) 2 is satisfied, inhomogeneous broadening has negligible effects on superradiance.

Passive Detuning for HCF Reduction

38th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2002
Geometric detuning effects are considered in this study of flow induced vibrations of the I nlet Guide Vane (IGV) row of the Purdue Transonic Compressor. The TAM -ALE3D fluid -structure interaction finite element code is used for the analysis, with the IGV and rotor rows modeled.

Longitudinal detuning for an SRFEL

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2003
The interaction between laser pulse and electron beam of a storage ring free electron laser (SRFEL) can be described in the longitudinal phase space as a function of the longitudinal detuning, which we define as the delay per pass between the laser pulse and the electron bunch.

Parametric Excitation of a Detuned Spherical Pendulum

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1993
Abstract The weakly non-linear response of a slightly detuned spherical pendulum with natural frequencies ω 1 and ω 2 , ω 1 ≈ ω 2 , subject to parametric excitation at frequency 2ω, is analyzed in the parametric domain ω 2 − 1 2 ; (ω 2 1 + ω 2 2 ) = O (eω 2 ), where e is a measure of the excitation.
