Effects of signal detuning on phase conjugation

Optics Letters, 1979
The formulations of degenerate three-wave and four-wave phase conjugation are generalized to include signalpump detuning. The theory is an extension of grating-dip spectroscopy. The reflection bandpass is shown to be limited by the power-broadened bandwidth (proportional variant 1/T(1)) of the two-level population difference.

Detuned inhomogeneously broadened laser linewidth

Quantum and Semiclassical Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1997
Essentially closed-form formulae are given for the linewidth of inhomogeneously broadened lasers, with arbitrary cavity detuning and pumping statistics (Poissonian or quiet pumps). The so-called `bad-cavity' mode of operation is treated. The general formula is obtained from a semiclassical theory first derived from a linearized symmetrically ordered ...

Family of detuning-insensitive phase-shifting algorithms

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2000
The design of phase-shifting algorithms (PSA's) has been carried out with diverse strategies by different authors. A generalized algebraic approach is employed to obtain a family of detuning-insensitive PSA's; their behavior against a linear phase error is analyzed from a geometric point of view.

A gyrotron frequency detuning equation

International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 1983
Estimates of gyrotron frequency detuning obtained from a small-signal analysis are compared with numerical calculations. There are significant differences under normal operating conditions.

Detuning effects in competing nonlinearities

Quantum and Semiclassical Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1997
The impact of cavity detunings on the quantum noise properties of competing nonlinearities (second harmonic generation and nondegenerate optical parametric oscillation in the same cavity) is assessed. Previously predicted effects, such as sub-Poissonian pair statistics of twin photons, are shown to survive for moderate detunings of the fundamental or ...

Photon number distribution of detuned squeezed states

Physical Review A, 1991
A quantum-mechanical treatment is developed, by using the Lie Group methods, for the properties of the detuned degenerate, vacuum, and excited squeezed-states photon number distribution. For a vacuum squeezed state, the detuning decreases the average photon number without changing the semichaotic distribution.

The Detuning Tank An Effective Stabilizing Device

Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1971
Abstract The performance of offshore work from floating platforms dictates the desirability of "Minimum platforms dictates the desirability of "Minimum motions". One of the most troublesome motions, especially in the case of ship-shape or barge-shape platforms, is the roll motion because of the large platforms, is ...

Plasmonic Functionalities Based on Detuned Electrical Dipoles

2013
We introduce and demonstrate the concept of detuned electrical dipoles (DED) that originates from the plasmonic realization of the dressed-state picture of electromagnetically induced transparency in atomic physics. Numerically and experimentally analyzing DED metamaterials consisting of unit cells with two and three differently sized gold nanorods, we

Self-oscillation in a detuned cavity

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1984
A simple symmetry relates optical bistability in a ring cavity tuned near resonance and multimode instability and self-oscillation in a cavity excited midway between resonances.
