Optimal conditions for efficient ion acceleration and neutron production in deuterium gas-puff z-pinches

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Deuterium gas-puff z-pinches are researched primarily as efficient sources of DD fusion neutrons. The first experiment with a deuterium gas jet was carried out in 1978 (Shiloh et al 1978 Phys. Rev. Lett. 40 515518).

6R/S-deutero-α-d-mannopyranoside 1-phosphate

open access: yesMolbank, 2019
6R/S-deutero-α-d-mannopyranoside 1-phosphate was synthesised from a C6 aldehydic mannose thioglycoside donor in four steps. Using NaBD4 as the reductant, isotopic enrichment at C6 was achieved and the resultant C6-deuterated material was converted ...

Studies of Tryptophans in Membrane- Spanning WALP Peptides by Deuterium NMR Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
WALP pep tides of sequence acetyl-Gly-Trp-Trp-(Leu-Ala)-Trp-Trp-Ala-ethanolamine insert into lipid bilayers as membrane-spanning a-helices and modulate the lipid phase behavior as functions of n and the lipid acyl chain length.

Tailoring Vascular‐Immune Homeostasis via Manganese‐DNA Complex‐Armed Immunogenic Extracellular Vesicles for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Mn2⁺–tumor DNA complexes encapsulated in dendritic cell (DC)– derived immunogenic extracellular vesicles (EVDC@Mn‐DNA) act as a DC‐specific cGAS– STING activator. EVDC@Mn‐DNA treatment enhances intratumoral DC activation, improves tumor vascular function, promotes CD8⁺ T cell activity, and suppresses pancreatic tumor growth,

Deuterium retention in MeV self-implanted tungsten: Influence of damaging dose rate

open access: yes, 2017
Recrystallized, polycrystalline tungsten was self-damaged by 20 MeV tungsten ions up to a calculated damage dose in the damage peak of 0.23 dpa. The time to acquire this dose and hence the average damaging dose rate was varied from 6 × 10 -3 to 4 × 10 -6

Biodegradable Carbonate Nanogels Loaded with Anti MFAP‐5 siRNA for Anti‐stromal Therapy of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polycarbonate nanogels enable lipid‐free delivery of anti‐MFAP‐5 siRNA into cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAF) in hepatocellular carcinoma. In a cirrhotic murine model, this approach silences MFAP‐5, reduces fibroblast activation, and suppresses tumor growth by inhibiting NOTCH/Hes1‐driven angiogenesis. CAF‐targeted MFAP‐5 RNAi and conserved signaling

Stable Isotopic Evidence of Paleorecharge in the Northern Gulf Coastal Plain (USA)

open access: yesHydrology
Stable isotope abundances (δ18O and δ2H) in regional aquifers can provide important paleoclimate information. However, identifying paleoclimate signals can be complicated by cross-formational mixing and, potentially, by isotopic diffusion between ...

Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

Expanding the Isotopic Toolbox to Track Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) Origins and Migration: On the Utility of Stable Oxygen Isotope (δ18O) Measurements

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2019
The measurement of naturally occurring stable hydrogen (δ2H) and carbon (δ13C) isotopes in wings of the eastern North American monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) have proven useful to infer natal origins of individuals overwintering in Mexico.
