Tangential developable surfaces as bonnet surfaces

Acta Mathematica Sinica, 1999
Bonnet surfaces are those surfaces in Euclidean 3-space \({\mathbf E}^3\) that admit at least one nontrivial mean curvature preserving isometry \(\Phi\) (here ``nontrivial'' means that \(\Phi\) can not be extended to an isometry of \({\mathbf E}^3\)). A special class \((C3)\) among these surfaces are the ones that admit exactly one such isometry.

The Development of a Surface Arthroplasty for the Elbow

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1986
Complex kinematics, anatomical features, and load distribution have contributed to the poor function of constrained and semiconstrained cemented arthroplasties of the elbow. Resurfacing by porous-coated components has the potential, by reproduction of normal joint geometry and restoration of ligament balance, to re-create relatively normal kinematics ...

Surface modifications for the development of piezoimmunosensors

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 1998
Four different techniques for the immobilisation of proteins onto the gold electrode of a piezoelectric quartz crystal were investigated. The examined techniques were adsorption, avidin-biotin binding and two different types of covalent binding on self-assembled monolayers (SAM), dithiobis(succinimidylpropionate) (DSP) and a dextran modified thiol ...

Shape optimization of generalized developable H-Bézier surfaces using adaptive cuckoo search algorithm

Advances in Engineering Software, 2020
The shape optimization design of developable surface is a critical and intractable technique in CAD/CAM and used in many manufacturing planning operations.

Pattern development for 3D surfaces

Computer-Aided Design, 1991
The authors consider the problem how to derive development patterns for elliptic- and hyperbolic-curvature regions. This is essentially formulated in terms of Gaussian curvature. Therefore as an instructive example the problem of developing patches on a spherical surface or a torus is studied.
