Advanced effort estimation in software projects using ensemble-based fusion techniques

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal
The software development process heavily relies on effort estimation, which is crucial for determining the development approach and methodology. This research aims to propose a methodology to enhance effort estimation, ensuring that initial work ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Generative adversarial networks-based software development effort estimation for small datasets

open access: yesScientific African
In project management, accurately estimating the effort required for software projects is crucial. With the right configuration, artificial neural networks (ANNs) can be used to build predictive models since they learn from previous data and minimize ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Using Machine Learning and Simplified Functional Measures to Estimate Software Development Effort

open access: yesIEEE Access
Functional size measures are often used as the basis for estimating development effort, because they are available in the early stages of software development.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Review and Empirical Analysis of Machine Learning-Based Software Effort Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access
The average software company spends a huge amount of its revenue on Research and Development (R&D) for how to deliver software on time. Accurate software effort estimation is critical for successful project planning, resource allocation, and on ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Effort Estimation in Agile Software Development: an Updated Review

open access: yesInternational Conferences on Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, 2018
One of the main issues of an agile software project is how to accurately estimate development effort. In 2014, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) regarding this subject was published. The authors concluded that there were several gaps in the literature, such as the low level of accuracy of the techniques and little consensus on appropriate cost ...
