Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)

Current Orthopaedics, 2005
Summary Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is common, ranging from mild dysplasia to frank dislocation. The diagnosis can be difficult, even in experienced hands, particularly when there are bilateral dislocations. All infants should be screened clinically, but the value of other screening methods, such as ultrasound is still debated.

Tönnis and the Novel IHDI Radiographic Classification Systems for the Developmental Dysplasia of The Hip (DDH): Evaluation of 406 hips with DDH

Acta Orthopaedica Belgica, 2023
In this study, we aimed to compare the efficiency of Tönnis and the novel International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) in decision making and in presuming the outcomes in children who had undergone closed reduction and casting. 406 hips of 298 patients who had undergone closed reduction and spica casting were included in this retrospective study.

A radiographic clinic for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)

Irish Journal of Medical Science (1971 -), 2019
We describe the first radiographic clinic in the literature for DDH and how this novel clinic can significantly improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of service in a tertiary referral centre.A radiographic clinic for the management of developmental dysplasia of the hip was introduced in 2017 in our institution.

Ultrasonography in the Management of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1995
Real time ultrasonography, according to the method of Graf, was performed on 113 infant hips because of abnormal physical findings (ranging from hip clicks to frank dislocation). Three parameters were measured on the standard coronal images: alpha and beta angles of Graf and the d/D ratio of Morin.

1012 Evaluation of the ‘Clicky’ Hip in the Diagnosis of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

British Journal of Surgery, 2023
Abstract Aim Early detection of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is associated with improved outcomes of conservative treatment. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the use of a ‘clicky’ hip as an indication for secondary assessment as per the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery ...

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH): diagnosis and treatment

Orthopaedics and Trauma, 2016
Abstract This article describes the definition, investigation, imaging and treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). There is controversy in what constitutes physiological or pathological DDH. The results of hip screening programmes are disappointing. DDH may be diagnosed by clinical, sonographic or radiological means.

Screening in Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

The Surgeon, 2017
Screening for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) is a controversial subject. Screening may be by universal neonatal clinical examination (Ortolani or Barlow manoeuvres) with the addition of sonographic imaging of the hip (selective 'at risk' hips or universal screening in the neonate).

Acetabular Changes in an Experimental Model of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1995
We wished to correlate the morphological acetabular changes in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) with changes at the tissue level. A secondary aim was to develop a way of measuring the dysplastic acetabulum. We studied the changes in rabbit acetabula after maintaining knee extension, measuring the major diameter from the acetabular notch to the ...
