Modeling developmental cognitive neuroscience

Trends in Cognitive Sciences, 2006
In the past few years connectionist models have greatly contributed to formulating theories of cognitive development. Some of these models follow the approach of developmental cognitive neuroscience in exploring interactions between brain development and cognitive development by integrating structural change into learning.

Magnetoencephalography and developmental cognitive neuroscience

2021
Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is an exceptionally useful tool to study child development. It measures brain waves: fluctuations in the magnetic field around the head caused by changes in the local field potential of neuronal populations that fire in synchrony. MEG has a high-temporal resolution, and a reasonable degree of spatial precision.

Cerebral palsy: towards developmental neuroscience [PDF]

open access: possibleDevelopmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 2005
Cerebral Palsy (CP) has been discussed as a disease entity for decades. Today it is considered a group of disorders with different aetiologies, which constitutes a useful socio-medical framework for certain children with motor disabilities with special needs.

The Developmental Neuroscience of Moral Sensitivity

Emotion Review, 2011
Though traditional accounts of moral development focus on the development of rational and deliberate thinking, recent work in developmental affective neuroscience suggests that moral cognition is tightly related to affective and emotional processing.

Neuroconstructivism: A Developmental Turn in Cognitive Neuroscience?

2014
Since its birth, brain science has been for the most part the study of the structure and functioning of an already formed brain, the study of the endpoint of a process. Brodmann areas, for instance, are cortical areas of the adult brain (Brodmann 1909).

The developmental cognitive neuroscience of functional connectivity

Brain and Cognition, 2009
Developmental cognitive neuroscience is a rapidly growing field that examines the relationships between biological development and cognitive ability. In the past decade, there has been ongoing refinement of concepts and methodology related to the study of 'functional connectivity' among distributed brain regions believed to underlie cognition and ...
