Comparing the effects of intravenous injection and intranasal atomisation of detomidine in sheep

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 353-362, January 2023., 2023
This paper compares the intravenous and intranasal routs of Detomidine administration in sheep. Abstract Background Detomidine is an α‐2 agonist sedative drug which reduces the release of norepinephrine in nerves. Administering this drug through intranasal (IN) route could cause direct transmission to the central nervous system.

Nasal irrigation delivery in three post-FESS models from a squeeze-bottle using CFD [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Purpose: Nasal saline irrigation is highly recommended in patients following functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) to aid the postoperative recovery. Post-FESS patients have significantly altered anatomy leading to markedly different flow dynamics from those found in pre-op or non-diseased airways, resulting in unknown flow dynamics. Methods: This

Speaker-independent Speech Inversion for Estimation of Nasalance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The velopharyngeal (VP) valve regulates the opening between the nasal and oral cavities. This valve opens and closes through a coordinated motion of the velum and pharyngeal walls. Nasalance is an objective measure derived from the oral and nasal acoustic signals that correlate with nasality.
