Base-Station Assisted Device-to-Device Communications for High-Throughput Wireless Video Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2013
We propose a new scheme for increasing the throughput of video files in cellular communications systems. This scheme exploits (1) the redundancy of user requests as well as (2) the considerable storage capacity of smartphones and tablets.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Chase–escape in dynamic device-to-device networks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2023
AbstractWe feature results on global survival and extinction of an infection in a multi-layer network of mobile agents. Expanding on a model first presented in Cali et al. (2022), we consider an urban environment, represented by line segments in the plane, in which agents move according to a random waypoint model based on a Poisson point process ...

Wireless Device-to-Device Caching Networks: Basic Principles and System Performance [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2013
As wireless video is the fastest growing form of data traffic, methods for spectrally efficient on-demand wireless video streaming are essential to both service providers and users.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Device-to-Device Communications in the Millimeter Wave Band: A Novel Distributed Mechanism

open access: yes, 2018
In spite of its potential advantages, the large-scale implementation of the device-to-device (D2D) communications has yet to be realized, mainly due to severe interference and lack of enough bandwidth in the microwave ($\mu$W) band.

Energy-Efficient D2D Communication Based Retransmission Scheme for Reliable Multicast in Wireless Cellular Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In the traditional reliable multicast schemes of wireless cellular network, base station (BS) repeatedly transmits the same packet until it is received by all receivers.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Resource Allocation for Energy-Efficient Device-to-Device Communication in 4G Networks

open access: yes, 2014
Device-to-device (D2D) communications as an underlay of a LTE-A (4G) network can reduce the traffic load as well as power consumption in cellular networks by way of utilizing peer-to-peer links for users in proximity of each other.
