Dextroamphetamine, Catecholamines, and Behavior
Archives of Neurology, 1969THE CLINICAL usefulness of the amphetamines is based on their central nervous system (CNS) stimulating actions, eg, antidepressant, analeptic, and anorectic. It is not understood how the amphetamines exert their central effects, but experimental work in animals suggests a relationship with brain norepinephrine.

Dextroamphetamine for epilepsy.
JAMA, 1975OUR EXPERIENCE supports the findings of the Boston Collaborative Drug Surveillance Program, prepared by Jick, 1 which did not confirm the relationship of amphetamine therapy to the development of Hodgkin disease described by Newell et al. 2 Over the past 30 years, we have prescribed the amphetamines, primarily dextroamphetamine sulfate (Dexedrine ...

Effects of marihuana‐dextroamphetamine combination
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1976Under a double‐blind, randomized, complete block design, subjects were given either placebo or 10 mg 170 kg dextroamphetamine sulfate (A) orally followed 1½ hr later by a marihuana cigarette (M) prepared to deliver 50 ug/kg delta‐9‐tetrahydrocannabinol OHC), Statistical analyses sliggested that heart rate and blood pressure increased ill an additive ...

Dextroamphetamine with Morphine: Respiratory Effects
The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1983Abstract: The combination of dextroamphetamine and morphine has been shown to be synergistic for analgesia and antagonistic for most other effects. However, the claim that dextroamphetamine antagonizes the respiratory depression caused by morphine has not been well substantiated.

Spectropolarimetric Assay of Dextroamphetamine
Analytical Letters, 1987Abstract A rapid, simple and specific procedure for the simultaneous assay and determination of enantiomeric purity of pharmaceutical grade dextroamphetamine is described. The procedure is faster, more precise and more specific for the dextroisomer than the U.S.P. method.

Ischemic Colitis Associated with Dextroamphetamine Use
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 1991Ischemic colitis can be caused by a variety of medications including a number of sympathomimetic agents. We report the case of a 47-year-old narcoleptic man who had abdominal pain and rectal bleeding. The clinical, radiographic, and histologic findings supported the diagnosis of ischemic colitis associated with oral dextroamphetamine use.

Effects of dextroamphetamine on psychomotor skills
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1976Twelve healthy male volunteers were given 0,5, 10, 15 mg/70 kg dextroamphetamine orally in a randomized double‐blind fashion. Blood pressure increased linearly with dose while heart rate was unchanged. Although selected individual tests of stance stability and motor function improved in a dose‐related fashion, a generalized improvement in performance ...

Marihuana, Ethanol, and Dextroamphetamine
Archives of General Psychiatry, 1970MARIHUANA, ethanol, and dextroamphetamine are three widely used social drugs with somewhat different actions. Marihuana is a sedative somewhat like ethanol, but also has perceptual effects resembling those of hallucinogens. Ethanol is primarily a sedative, while dextroamphetamine is a stimulant.
