Palaeoenvironment reconstruction, diagenetic overprint and geochemistry of the Upper Cretaceous Sarvak Formation in the north of Dezful Embayment, south-west of Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2022
The Sarvak Formation, with a total thickness of 1566 m and major limestone lithology in the Ahvaz and Mansouri oil fields, is studied to determine its palaeoenvironment, diagenetic overprint and geochemistry.

Co-seismic slip of the 18 April 2021 Mw 5.9 Genaveh earthquake in the South Dezful Embayment of Zagros (Iran) and its aftershock sequence

open access: yesSeismica, 2023
On 2021 April 18, an Mw 5.9 earthquake struck the Genaveh region in the south Dezful embayment of the Zagros, Iran. Here, we investigate the active tectonics of the region, the geometry and slip distribution of the causative fault plane, and its ...

Seismological evidence for crustal-scale thrusting in the Zagros mountain belt (Iran) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
International audienceCrustal receiver functions computed from the records of 45 temporary seismological stations installed on a 620-km long profile across central Zagros provide the first direct evidence for crustal thickening in this mountain belt. Due

Microfacies, Sedimentary Environment, Diagenesis and Petrophysical Evaluation of the Sarvak Formation in the framework of Sequence Stratigraphy in North-Dezful Embayment, southwestern Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2023
The subsurface section of the Sarvak Formation with a thickness of 455 m is located in the North-Dezful Embayment. The Sarvak Formation is underlain by the Ilam Formation with erosional discontinuity and is overlain probably by the Shale of the Kazhdumi ...

Machine learning algorithm for prediction of stuck pipe incidents using statistical data: case study in middle east oil fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
One of the most troublesome issues in the drilling industry is stuck drill pipes. Drilling activities will be costly and time-consuming due to stuck pipe issues. As a result, predicting a stuck pipe can be more useful.

Controlling factors on the reservoir quality of the Asmari Formation: A case study from the Dezful Embayment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2015
Material & Methods   The study is based on sedimentological and petrophysical data from two wells of a field located in the Dezful Embayment, where the Ahwaz Sandstone Member is present, alongside with some compar able sedimentological data from NW ...

Biostratigraphy of Early Oligocene - Early Miocene Asmari Formation at the Southern Flank of Mish Anticline, Izeh Zone, SW Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this research, biostratigraphy related to the Asmari Formation at the southern flank of Mish anticline, Izeh Zone, is discussed. In the studied stratigraphic section, the Asmari Formation overlies the Pabdeh Formation and underlies Quaternary ...

Implications of heterogeneous fracture distribution on reservoir quality; an analogue from the Torridon Group sandstone, Moine Thrust Belt, NW Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This research was funded by a NERC CASE studentship (NERC code NE/I018166/1) in partnership with Midland Valley. Midland Valley's Move software was used for cross section construction and strain modelling.

Provenance evolution of Oligocene–Pliocene foreland deposits in the Dezful embayment to constrain Central Zagros exhumation history [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Geological Society, 2020
This paper presents a detailed provenance analysis of the 6.5 km thick Oligocene–Pliocene foreland succession in the north Dezful embayment in Zagros, Iran. Using petrography, geochemistry and palaeoflow analysis, we determined three provenance shifts during the exhumation of the Zagros orogen.
