Time‐Varying Inertia Estimation for Grid‐Connected DFIG‐Based Wind Farms Using Sensitivity‐Guided Clustering and Aggregation

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a time‐varying inertia estimation framework based on sensitivity‐guided clustering and aggregation. It can achieve high‐accuracy inertia estimation with limited measurements, reducing the relative error by nearly 10% compared with existing methods, and exhibit strong robustness to noise and disturbances.

Active Low‐Voltage Ride‐Through Control Strategy for Wind Turbines to Improve Transient Stability in Power Systems

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Based on the characteristic of wind turbine LVRT influencing system power balance, this study proposes a method utilising active LVRT control to achieve transient stability. A transient stability control strategy is developed by integrating active LVRT with deep reinforcement learning while introducing a disturbance‐level‐based coordinated control ...

Static analysis of voltage stability with DFIG

open access: yesScience and Technology Development Journal, 2016
The static voltage stability analysis is carried out by V-Q sensitivity or Q-V modal analysis. These analyses are based on the Jacobian matrix of power flow calculation. This is regarded as load bus stability analysis. With DFIG of PQ mode, the wind generation bus is considered as the PQ bus.

Improved Phase Comparison Phase‐to‐Phase Distance Protection for Transmission Lines Connected to Energy Storage Power Stations Based on Polarisation Voltage Phase Reconstruction

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper studies the fault characteristics of the energy storage power station's transmission lines and its influence on the traditional phase comparison distance protection, under different charging and discharging operating conditions. An improved phase comparison distance protection based on polarisation voltage phase reconstruction is proposed ...

Analysis and Comparison of High Frequency Resonance in Small and Large Scale DFIG System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
When connected to a parallel compensated weak grid network, both the small and large power scale Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) system may suffer high frequency resonance (HFR) due to the impedance interaction between the DFIG system and the ...

Damping Method of High Frequency Resonance for Stator Current Controlled DFIG System under Parallel Compensation Grid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
High-frequency resonances (HFR) is a subsistent issue in a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) system when it connects to a parallel compensation grid, due to the insufficient phase margin between the impedance of DFIG and grid.

Low-Voltage Ride-Through Techniques in DFIG-Based Wind Turbines: A Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In recent years, considerable advances were made in wind power generation. The growing penetration of wind power makes it necessary for wind turbines to maintain continuous operation during voltage dips, which is stated as the low-voltage ride-through ...

Improved coordinated protection scheme for DFIG based wind turbines

open access: yes, 2023
Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is one of the popular choices for wind generation due to its variable speed operation, low losses and relatively low cost as compared to fully rated converter-based wind turbines.

DFIG Model Suitable for SSR Research

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract The simulation model of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is the basis of the research on subsynchronous resonance (SSR) of DFIG. In this paper, the conditions that the model of DFIG is suitable for the research of subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) are analyzed firstly. Then, the drive system, doubly fed induction motor, AC /
