Damping DFIG-associated SSR by adding subsynchronous suppression filters to DFIG converter controllers

2016 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2016
Subsynchronous resonance (SSR) issue, namely subsynchronous control interaction (SSCI), was observed in doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind farms connected to fixed series compensation. This paper proposes a novel scheme to deactivate SSR by adding subsynchronous suppression filters (SSFs) to DFIG converter controllers.

Matrix converter control for DFIG

2013 IEEE International Conference on Emerging & Sustainable Technologies for Power & ICT in a Developing Society (NIGERCON), 2013
The matrix converter is made up of a matrix of bidirectional switch elements. The output voltage control is achieved by switching between the allowed switching states using a predetermined sequence. Filters can be used to remove the unwanted high frequency components due to the switching.

Dynamic Stability Analysis and Improved LVRT Schemes of DFIG-Based Wind Turbines During a Symmetrical Fault in a Weak Grid

IEEE transactions on power electronics, 2020
With the increasing penetration of the wind power, the stability issues of the weak AC grid-connected doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind turbines during low-voltage ride through (LVRT) cannot be neglected.

Combined low voltage ride through and power smoothing control for DFIG/PMSG hybrid wind energy conversion system employing a SMES-based AC-DC unified power quality conditioner

International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2021
An Interline AC-DC unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) protection device is proposed and designed based on superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) in this paper to improve low voltage ride through (LVRT) capacity and smooth output power for ...

An optimal control strategy for DFIG

2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2010
For doubly fed induction machines operating as wind generators (DFIG), the terminal voltage and the active power delivered to the grid are controlled by a PWM converter linked to the machine rotor. The monitoring of the direct and quadrature axis components of the rotor voltage makes possible the control of the terminal voltage and active power ...
