Bacterial and fungal superinfections are detected at higher frequency in critically ill patients affected by SARS CoV‐2 infection than negative patients and are associated to a worse outcome

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 95, Issue 7, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Patients with viral infections are at higher risk to acquire bacterial and fungal superinfections associated with a worse prognosis. We explored this critical point in the setting of patients with severe COVID‐19 disease. The study included 1911 patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) during a 2‐year study period (March 2020–March 2022).

A Peptide‐Conjugated Probe with Cleavage‐Induced Morphological Change for Treatment on Tumor Cell Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 10, Issue 11, April 14, 2023., 2023
To achieve the effective inhibition of tumor growth and metastasis, a smart transformable peptide‐conjugated probe DMFA with matrix metalloproteinase‐2 cleavage‐induced morphological change is designed. By ensuring the sufficient interaction sites between the α‐helix and phospholipid bilayer and the precise formation of β‐sheet‐based nanofibers outside

Fault Detection and Isolation in Smart‐Grid Networks of Intelligent Power Routers Modeled as Probabilistic Boolean Networks

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
A self‐organizing complex‐network modeling method, probabilistic Boolean networks, is presented as a model‐based diagnostic system for detecting and isolating different types of faults, failures, and modes of operation in which a network of intelligent power routers is deployed over a standard power test case: the Western System Coordinating Council 9 ...

IDM for the Conceptual Evaluation Process of Industrialized Timber Projects

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Interest in industrialized timber construction systems, in particular light‐frame systems, has increased worldwide due to its various benefits. However, it is very important for projects executed under the off‐site construction system to consider the different manufacture and assembly requirements in their design, following the design for manufacturing

Smart Compression Therapy Devices for Treatment of Venous Leg Ulcers: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 11, Issue 17, September 2022., 2022
This paper reviews the emerging microtechnologies and new materials that enable the development of “smart” compression therapy devices, which are defined as those systems that use miniaturized and lightweight actuators and electronics to control the pressure applied to a limb. The technology has immense potential for the treatment of venous leg ulcers.
