Human Dishevelled Genes Constitute a DHR-Containing Multigene Family

open access: yesGenomics, 1997
Three human genes encoding proteins homologous to Drosophila Dishevelled protein were cloned and characterized. Amino acid similarity between the different Dishevelled proteins is concentrated in three highly conserved regions. Two of these regions do not exhibit significant sequence similarity with other known proteins; the third is similar to the ...

3D‐Printed Crosslinked Nanocellulose‐MXene Hydrogels and Aerogels with High Strength and Conductivity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents a robust strategy for 3D printing conductive, mechanically resilient MXene–CNF composite structures using a single‐step freeze‐induced crosslinking method. The printed architectures remain stable in both wet and dry states, exhibit high electrical conductivity and mechanical strength, and demonstrate practical application in fully ...

Vine Tendril‐Inspired Cold‐Programmable Shape‐Memory Polymer Composites Using Sugar Beet Pulp

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vine tendrils inspire a bio‐derived, cold‐programmable shape‐memory polymer composite (SMPC). Magnetically guided sugar beet pulp creates mesoscale heterogeneity within a glassy matrix, producing built‐in mechanical asymmetry for rapid, solvent‐free programming by simple stretching.

Ten days of supplementation with a standardized Boswellia serrata extract attenuates soreness and accelerates recovery after repeated bouts of downhill running in recreationally active men

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
Extracts derived from Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrata) effectively reduce the pain and swelling associated with osteoarthritis. It is unknown whether the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of B.

Ultra‐Tough Hybrid Supramolecular Gelatin Hydrogels

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Tannic acid‐mediated coacervation compacts gelatin into a dense supramolecular network while generating an acidic microenvironment that activates pre‐embedded bis‐oxazoline crosslinkers. The resulting hybrid hydrogel combines covalent stabilization with reversible energy dissipation, producing high strength, extreme extensibility, substantial toughness,

Unraveling the Interplay: Intensive Solar Radiation Amplifies Maize Yield Reduction Under Dry‐Heat Stress

open access: yesEarth's Future
Under global brightening and warming, how intense solar radiation amplifies crop stress via photoinhibition remains poorly understood. Using data from 905 counties in China (1992–2018), we reveal that a 1% increase in dry‐heat‐intensive radiation (DHR ...

Updated EAACI Statement on Drug Hypersensitivity Skin Testing: Methodology and Non‐Irritative Concentrations

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT These updated EAACI guidelines aim to standardize skin testing methodologies for both immediate and non‐immediate drug hypersensitivity reactions. For immediate reactions, the optimal testing window is 4–6 weeks post‐reaction; whereas beyond 6 months, false‐negative results increase.

Uncovering the Genetic Landscape of Pediatric Hearing Loss Along the Texas–Mexico Border

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Project GIVE provided evaluations and genome sequencing to 23 children with hearing loss along the Texas–Mexico border. Seventy percent received a molecular diagnosis and 56% of those diagnosed had changes to medical management. In this region, underdiagnosis of genetic hearing loss is due to care barriers rather than lower genetic burden.

Plasma Concentrations of Benzylpenicillin and Cloxacillin in Infective Endocarditis—With Special Reference to Delayed Hypersensitivity Reactions

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background: Current antibiotic regimens for infective endocarditis (IE) are effective but pose a high risk of delayed hypersensitivity reactions (DHR).

Prevalence of Periodontitis in Patients with Established Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Swedish Population Based Case-Control Study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
IntroductionThe possible hypothesis of a link between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), specifically anti-citrullinated protein antibody (ACPA) positive RA, prompted us to investigate the prevalence of periodontitis in the Swedish ...
