The high incidence of cardiovascular events in chronic kidney disease (CKD) warrants an accurate evaluation of risk aimed at reducing the burden of disease and its consequences. Abstract Patients with kidney failure need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Cancer mortality after kidney transplantation: A multicenter cohort study in Italy
What's new? Kidney transplant recipients have increased risk of developing certain cancers, but their cancer mortality is not well documented. Here, the authors conducted a cohort study of 7373 individuals who had received a transplanted kidney. Cancer was the most common cause of death, accounting for 32% of all deaths.
