Safety and pharmacokinetics of anumigilimab for hidradenitis suppurativa or palmoplantar pustulosis: A phase 1b study

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Anumigilimab, a novel anti‐G‐CSF receptor antibody, was investigated in a phase 1b trial involving 39 patients with hidradenitis suppurativa or palmoplantar pustulosis. No serious safety concerns related to anumigilimab were noted, and PK and PD were dose dependent.

The Mean and Variability of Morning Hour Activity Over 2–3 Days Predict 5‐Year Mortality and Frailty Risk in a National Sample of Older Adults

open access: yesJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Activity pattern features measured by continuous accelerometry are strongly associated with frailty, making accelerometry a promising, scalable screening tool for frailty. However, adherence to typical 5–7 day wear protocols decreases with age, reducing feasibility.

Cumulative effects of lifelong systemic excess growth hormone on postcranial skeletal morphology in adult mice

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

A Multimodal Machine Learning Model for Framingham Risk Score–Based Cardiovascular Risk Stratification in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Machine learning provides a powerful tool to capture complex, nonlinear patterns in biomedical data and enhance precision risk stratification. In this study, we applied a multilayer perceptron (MLP) framework to classify Framingham Risk Score–based cardiovascular risk categories in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Looking for trouble: A common threat‐detection mechanism underlying pain, fear, and anxiety

open access: yesMind &Language, EarlyView.
I put forward a novel cognitive architecture for pain, fear, and anxiety, according to which these three capacities are underpinned by a common threat‐detection mechanism. This mechanism takes information about potential threats as input, assesses whether the threat is actual and, if it deems it is, outputs a threat representation.

Targeting Overweight and Obesity Phenotypes for Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease: A Call to Action for the Middle East and Beyond

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although there are conflicting clinical data on the efficacy of weight reduction in reducing secondary events in patients with comorbid overweight and obesity (OAO) and cardiovascular disease (CVD), there is excellent epidemiological and biological evidence of a cause–effect relationship between OAO, CVD, and other systemic complications ...
