Muscle and Nerve, 2020
We aimed at evaluating the differential involvement of large myelinated Aβ‐, small myelinated Aδ‐, and unmyelinated C‐fibers in patients with diabetic polyneuropathy and how they contribute to neuropathic pain.

Diabetic polyneuropathy: an update
Current Opinion in Internal Medicine, 2008To examine current issues in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy.Diabetic neuropathies are common and rising in prevalence with the global burden of type 2 diabetes. Polyneuropathy is also emerging as a complication of impaired glucose tolerance, without frank diabetes.

Subacute uremic and diabetic polyneuropathy
Muscle & Nerve, 1997We present 4 patients who had a subacute, predominantly motor polyneuropathy associated with diabetes mellitus and end-stage renal disease. Electrophysiological studies and muscle biopsy indicated a primary axonal degeneration of nerve with secondary segmental demyelination, and mild to moderate, acute and chronic denervation of muscle.

New Insights Into Diabetic Polyneuropathy
JAMA, 2003Patients with complaints of numbness, tingling, and dysesthesias in the toes and feet are frequently referred to neurologists. Often, the only objective evidence for peripheral nerve dysfunction in these patients is limited to small-caliber sensory nerve fibers.

The challenges of diabetic polyneuropathy: a brief update.
Current Opinion in Neurology, 2019PURPOSE OF REVIEW The current review addresses one of the most common neurological disorders, diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN). DPN is debilitating, irreversible and dwarfs the prevalence of most other chronic disorders of the nervous system.
