COMPUTER-ASSISTED ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSIS
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002Abstract In this paper we present a method to quantify the cardiac blood irrigation through echographic images for heart disease diagnosis. This method relies on the registration of acquired images with a heart model in order to provide a robust segmentation of the cardiac walls, giving the doctor precise and non subjective anatomical information, as

Computer-assisted diagnosis of rheumatic disorders
Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism, 1991A review of the literature regarding computer-assisted diagnosis of rheumatic diseases is presented. After a general outline of the history and goals of computer programs intended to support physicians in the diagnostic process, 14 systems or projects are described.

Computer-assisted diagnosis of acute azotemia
Computers and Biomedical Research, 1986We designed a computer program to make diagnostic suggestions in cases of acute azotemia. The performance of the program was tested in a retrospective manner on 63 patients with acute azotemia. The program correctly identified 90 of 94 diagnoses and made 20 false positive diagnostic suggestions.

Computer-assisted melanoma diagnosis
Melanoma Research, 2015In dermatology, attempts at synergy between man and machine have mainly been made to improve melanoma diagnosis. The aim of the present study was to test an 'integrated digital dermoscopy analysis' (i-DDA) system with a series of melanocytic lesions that were benign and malignant in nature, and to evaluate its discriminating power with respect to ...

Computer-Assisted Diagnosis of Alcoholism
Computers in Human Services, 1989The use of computer-assisted interviews in the diagnosis of psychiatric conditions has increased since researchhas shown such interviews to have adequate psychometric properties and to be acceptable to patients. This study uses a computer-assisted format to assess drinking behaviors and alcohol-related symptoms in 50 veterans hospitalized for alcohol ...

If the basic assumption is that every computer assisted diagnosis system takes signs and symptoms as a basis for reaching tentative diagnoses, the next consideration is how many different diagnoses there are in total. It immediately becomes apparent that first a definition of what is understood by diagnoses must be established.
