Diagnostic Accuracy Under Congestion

Management Science, 2013
In diagnostic services, agents typically need to weigh the benefit of running an additional test and improving the accuracy of diagnosis against the cost of delaying the provision of services to others. Our paper analyzes how to dynamically manage this accuracy/congestion trade-off.

Diagnostic Accuracy in Presenile Dementia

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1979
SummaryA follow-up study of patients diagnosed as suffering from presenile dementia has revealed a high incidence of erroneous diagnoses. Of 52 patients discharged from hospital with this diagnosis, information was obtained 5–15 years later on 51. Eighteen were alive and the diagnosis was rejected in 16 (31 per cent).

Measuring the Accuracy of Diagnostic Systems

Science, 1988
Diagnostic systems of several kinds are used to distinguish between two classes of events, essentially "signals" and "noise." For them, analysis in terms of the "relative operating characteristic" of signal detection theory provides a precise and valid measure of diagnostic accuracy.

The Accuracy of Diagnostic Radiology

JAMA, 1968
Cancer of the kidney frequently presents without overt signs or symptoms. Almost one third of such patients, in our experience, do not have signs or symptoms suggesting renal disease. Many patients with unsuspected renal neoplasms are discovered to have a renal mass during some nonurologic roentgenographic examination.

Diagnostic accuracy of MRCP in choledocholithiasis.

La Radiologia medica, 2005
To evaluate the accuracy of MRCP in diagnosing choledocholithiasis considering Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as the gold standard. To compare the results achieved during the first two years of use (1999-2000) of Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) in patients with suspected choledocholithiasis with those achieved ...

Diagnostic Tests and Diagnostic Accuracy in Surgery

2010
This chapter outlines the principles of designing, performing and interpreting high quality studies of diagnostic test accuracy. The basic concepts of diagnostic test accuracy, including sensitivity, spec-ificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), likelihood ratios (LRs) and predictive values, are explained.
