The Diagnostic Yield of Malignancy Comparing Cytology, FISH, and Molecular Analysis of Cell Free Cytology Brush Supernatant in Patients With Biliary Strictures Undergoing Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiography (ERC)

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 2019
Background: Routine cytology of biliary stricture brushings obtained during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has suboptimal sensitivity for malignancy. We compared the individual and combined ability of cytology, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis and PCR-based mutation profiling (MP) to ...

Fluoroscopy-guided shaped endobiliary biopsy at endoscopic retrograde cholangiography can accurately diagnose biliary neoplasia: Results from a large cohort

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2021
Background and study aims The sensitivity of using standard endobiliary forceps biopsy to diagnose neoplastic biliary lesions remains low. We have developed a unique biopsy approach, termed fluoroscopy-guided, shaped endobiliary biopsy (FSEB), in which ...

Percutaneous transhepatic vs. endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage for suspected malignant hilar obstruction: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2018
Background The optimal approach to the drainage of malignant obstruction at the liver hilum remains uncertain. We aim to compare percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) to endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERC) as the first intervention in

Prostate MRI: Is Endorectal Coil Necessary?—A Review

open access: yesLife, 2022
To assess the necessity of endorectal coil use in 3 Tesla (T) prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a literature review comparing the image quality and diagnostic performance with an endorectal coil (ERC) and a without endorectal coil (NERC), with a

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

Osteoporosis, bone mineral density and CKD–MBD complex (I): Diagnostic considerations

open access: yesNefrología (English Edition), 2018
Osteoporosis (OP) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) independently influence bone and cardiovascular health. A considerable number of patients with CKD, especially those with stages 3a to 5D, have a significantly reduced bone mineral density leading to a ...

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.

Genipin‐Crosslinked, Silane‐Anchored 3D Tumor–Stroma Microtissues for High‐Content On‐Chip Drug Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We describe a microfluidic tumor‐stroma co‐culture model, engineered to resist collagen‐hydrogel contraction driven by fibroblast activity. Surface silanization with APTES covalently anchors the matrix to the chip, while Genipin crosslinking progressively increases stiffness and elasticity without harming cells. This supports >10 days of co‐culture and
