Self-evaluation of Depression in Various Diagnostic and Therapeutic Groups

IN psychiatric practice depression is usually evaluated by someone other than the patient. In this study the patients provided their own evaluation using a modified version of the Beck Inventory of Depression. 1 This inventory reflects changes in the intensity of depression thereby providing a measure of improvement.

Conditioning and Generalization of Positive Self-Evaluations in a Partially Structured Diagnostic Interview

Ss were asked to discuss certain characteristics of themselves in a diagnostic interview setting. Experimental Ss were provided sham GSR feedback on the insightfulness of their self-descriptions. The feedback was actually controlled by the interviewer. Experimental Ss were rewarded for positive and punished for negative self-describing.

Objective To determine the validity of a self-diagnostic questionnaire for Dupuytren's disease among rock climbers. Methods A simple, self-diagnostic questionnaire for Dupuytren's disease was freely distributed to climbers in Austria and Germany. None of the subjects were medically prescreened.
