Abstract As little as 8 µg fructose can be identified by the red or yellow color produced by adding 2 drops of a fructose solution to approximately 0.2 gm. of potassium hydroxide on a spot plate. Glucose interferes with this test only when less than 0.1 mg. of fructose is present in a mixture of more than 0.9 mg. of glucose.
