Single-Neuron Critical Intermittency in a Stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley Model. [PDF]

We implemented a stochastic Markovian Hodgkin–Huxley model to simulate the function of the neuronal membrane. The resulting membrane potential time series were analyzed using the Method of Critical Fluctuations and were found to exhibit critical intermittency, which was conditional to the system's proximity to its spiking threshold.
