Research on the Recognition Method of Dial Scales for Arrester Pointer Instruments Based on Deep Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To address the recognition challenges faced by arrester pointer instruments’ dial scales in various scenarios, this paper introduces a deep learning-based recognition method for pointer instrument scales. An attention module is integrated into the YOLOv5

Analysis of diffential absorption lidar technique for measurements of anhydrous hydrogen chloride from solid rocket motors using a deuterium fluoride laser [PDF]

open access: yes
An active optical technique (differential absorption lidar (DIAL)) for detecting, ranging, and quantifying the concentration of anhydrous HCl contained in the ground cloud emitted by solid rocket motors (SRM) is evaluated.

Carbon finance initiatives can provide biodiversity benefits

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
We evaluated the biodiversity co‐benefits of a REDD+ initiative in the tropical forests of Sierra Leone and Liberia using a quasi‐experimental study design. Complementary measures from bioacoustics and DNA metabarcoding revealed that REDD+‐financed protected areas were associated with additional biodiversity benefits compared to control areas.

A Survey to Determine the Reliability of Dynamometer and Pinch Gauge Dial Readings Among Certified Hand Therapists

open access: yesOpen Journal of Occupational Therapy, 2013
Using a cross-sectional descriptive study design, surveys were mailed to 200 randomly selected certified hand therapists of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) to determine how they document analog dynamometer and pinch gauge dial readings ...

Impact Absorption Power of Polyolefin Fused Filament Fabrication 3D‐Printed Sports Mouthguards: In Vitro Study

open access: yesDental Traumatology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 213-223, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background/Aim This study aims to evaluate and compare the impact absorption capacities of thermoformed ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) mouthguards and 3D‐printed polyolefin mouthguards used in sports dentistry applications. The objective is to determine whether 3D‐printed polyolefin mouthguards offer superior impact toughness compared to ...

Field tests of the real-data acquisiton system for the NASA-LaRC differential absorption lidar [PDF]

open access: yes
A data acquisition system (DAS) for the NASA/LaRC Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) was documented. This DAS is a dual LSI 11/23 set up where one computer retrieves data from the digitizers and other peripheral units, stores that data on magnetic tape,

Plant Domestication Affects the Oviposition Behavior and Performance of Ganaspis kimorum, a Parasitoid of Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated the effects of blueberry domestication on the oviposition behavior and performance of Ganaspis kimorum, a parasitoid of Drosophila suzukii. Domestication of blueberries reduced the oviposition‐searching behavior of the parasitoid but enhanced parasitoid performance, including offspring performance. Additionally, blueberry

Benefitting from brutality? Profits of north‐western Europe's slave trade at the eve of the industrial revolution

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract One of the most contentious issues in the study of the Atlantic slave trade is the profitability of the trade. In this paper, we contribute by pooling all available data on transatlantic slave ship voyage accounts into a joint dataset. This dataset includes data from a period of 100 years (1730–1830) and from five nations (Denmark, France ...

The Place for Form in Wollheim's Lectures on Formalism and Pictorial Organization

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract At the time of his death, Richard Wollheim was writing a short book on Formalism and Pictorial Organization. Much of it, but by no means all of it, had been published before (it has come out posthumously in its entirety in late 2025). Here I do two things. First, I have provided a rather detailed exegesis concentrating on the parts of the book
