Drivers of tail evolution in squamates and their implications for the fossorial origin of snakes
Abstract The axial skeleton serves as the primary structural support in all vertebrates and is subdivided into five distinct regions: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and caudal. Relaxation of constraints acting on the terminal end of the axial skeleton has led to remarkable variation in caudal vertebrae number across Squamata.

Proposal for Simultaneous Sea Surface Wind Speed and Water Vapor Observations by Spaceborne IPDA-DIAL [PDF]
Water vapor data over the ocean is especially useful for numerical weather predictions of localized heavy rains and typhoons. We have proposed the spaceborne water vapor DIAL using the OPG/OPA transmitter with absorption lines in the 1350nm band and the ...

The ErbB family is a subfamily of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). In RTKs, ligand binding at the extracellular region triggers diverse cytoplasmic signaling cascades. Exactly how ligand binding is translated into specific signaling outcomes remains incompletely understood. In this issue, Doerner et al.

Core labour standards, Bilateral and Multilateral Trade
Core labour standards defined by the ILO in 1998 are universal but applied very differently across countries. Compliance is much higher in high income countries.

Water‐based drilling fluids formulated with mature fine tailings
Abstract Mature fine tailings (MFT) are persistent, highly stable colloidal suspensions generated as byproducts of bitumen extraction from oil sands. Given their environmental risks, identifying viable applications for MFT could reduce their accumulation while offsetting natural resource use.
