Feasibility Study of Multi-Wavelength Differential Absorption LIDAR for CO2 Monitoring

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2016
To obtain a better understanding of carbon cycle and accurate climate prediction models, highly accurate and temporal resolution observation of atmospheric CO2 is necessary. Differential absorption LIDAR (DIAL) remote sensing is a promising technology to

Comparison of ozone profiles from DIAL, MLS, and chemical transport model simulations over Río Gallegos, Argentina, during the spring Antarctic vortex breakup, 2009 [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2017
This study evaluates the agreement between ozone profiles derived from the ground-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL), satellite-borne Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS), and 3-D chemical transport model (CTM) simulations such as the Model for ...

Development of a laser for differential absorption lidar measurement of atmospheric carbon dioxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the quest for a better understanding of climate change, greater importance is attached to monitoring the levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide to gain an improved knowledge of sources and sinks.

Estimating microcredit impact with low take-up, contamination and inconsistent data. A replication study of Crépon, Devoto, Duflo, and Parienté (American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, 2015)

open access: yesInternational Journal for Re-Views in Empirical Economics, 2019
We replicate a flagship randomised control trial carried out in rural Morocco that showed substantial and significant impacts of microcredit on the assets, the outputs, the expenses and the profits of self-employment activities. The original results rely

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dial in your dispersity [PDF]

open access: yesNature Reviews Chemistry, 2020
One can combine two distinct chain-transfer agents to tune the dispersity of vinyl polymers. The polymer chains remain living and can be transformed into diblock copolymers.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Factors Associated With the Rising Trend in Self‐Reported Cognitive Disability Among U.S. Adults Aged 18–39 From 2013–2024

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Building on our prior Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System analysis identifying adults aged 18–39 as the primary driver of the national increase in self‐reported cognitive disability, we examined factors associated with this rise using 2013–2024 U.S. BRFSS data. Methods We analyzed U.S.

Rater agreement reliability of the dial test in the ACL-deficient knee

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, 2018
Background Posterolateral rotatory instability (PLRI) of the knee can easily be missed, because attention is paid to injury of the cruciate ligaments. If left untreated this clinical instability may persist after reconstruction of the cruciate ligaments ...
