The space of DP in Arbëresh dialects: data and theory
STUF - Language Typology and UniversalsAbstract This article examines the agreement system in DPs in some Arbëresh varieties. As we will see, in DPs, the distribution of the inflectional exponents is asymmetric, in the sense that, while the oblique is generally registered on every element in the DP, nominative and accusative are realized only on D or a modifier in its domain.

Non-standard dialects and linguistic data
Lingua, 2005Abstract This paper considers the particular problems in working on the syntax of non-standard language varieties and how these can be overcome. It offers a case study of the singular concord structure in Belfast English, showing the extent to which data is available from intuitions and from a corpus, and the relative contributions of both of these ...

Data driven multidialectal phone set for Spanish dialects
Interspeech 2004, 2004This paper addresses the use of a data-driven approach to determine a multidialectal phone set for an automatic speech recognition system for Spanish dialects. This approach is based on a decision tree clustering algorithm that tries to cluster contextual units of different dialects.

An optimizing compiler for FP*-a data-parallel dialect of FP
Proceedings of the Third IEEE Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2002The authors present an overview of a compiler for the functional language FP* that generates programs suitable for execution on massively parallel architectures. Data-parallel programs are naturally expressed using FP* functionals, which map efficiently onto massively parallel architectures.

Comparing the Stability of Different Clustering Results of Dialect Data
2007[Mucha and Haimerl (2005)] proposed an algorithm to determine the stability of clusters found in hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and to calculate the rate of recovery by which an element can be reassigned to the same cluster in successive classifications of bootstrap samples.

A Java dialect free of data races and without annotations
Proceedings International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium, 2004fWe introduce a dialect of Java, JShield, for concurrent object oriented programming, whose primary design goal is robustness. JShield preserves the Java syntax and the semantics of sequential Java programs. It modifies the semantics of concurrent programs to completely avoid data races without relying on the programmer ability, and without requiring ...
