Quantitative Insights into the Genetic Mechanisms of Crop Heterosis. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Genet (Hoboken)
Inheritance patterns of genomics‐downstream molecules, including transcripts, proteins, and metabolites, are analyzed in hybrid crops. The additive effect, which describes mid‐parent level, is a predominant inheritance pattern in crop heterosis and can be used to improve breeding efficiency of high‐yield hybrid varieties.

The transmission ability in a population of elite tetraploid potatoes. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Genome
Abstract Crop potato, Solanum tuberosum L., has great genetic improvement potential, but vegetative propagation, tetrasomic inheritance, and inbreeding depression have limited genetic gain in the elite gene pool. To elucidate the transmission ability of breeding material in the current elite gene pool, we estimated the additive genetic variance and ...

Diallel analysis of the duration of vegetation period in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) with increased lycopene content in the fruit

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2021
Five parental forms of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and twenty hybrids F1, were studied which were obtained by the complete diallel scheme (5 x 5). For genetic analysis (by Hayman, 1954; Jinks,1954) was used line №477 (sp,u), variety Alya (sp) with ...

Diallel analysis in agronomic traits of Jatropha [PDF]

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2017
The objectives of this study were to estimate the general and specific combining ability of the parents, and to verify the existence of maternal effect and inbreeding depression in Jatropha.

The Big BIT maize experiment: A large multi-location, multi-year, multi-tester, multi-population predictive breeding validation study. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Genome
Abstract The Big Breeding Innovation Team (Big BIT) maize (Zea mays L.) experiment was one of the largest genomic data‐informed predictive breeding validation studies ever conducted. The experiment was a multi‐location, multi‐year, multi‐tester, multi‐population study involving F1 maize hybrids created by crossing individual doubled haploids to inbred ...

DIALLEL ANALYSIS OF GROWTH TRAITS IN MICE [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1975
ABSTRACT Two replications of a complete diallel cross experiment were performed among four partially inbred lines of mice. These inbred lines originated from a random-bred ICR strain and were produced by 12 generations of full sibbing (F ≃ 92%). Individual body weight was recorded for each animal at 12, 21, 42 and 56 days of age.

A diallel model with repeatability information applied in an elephant grass breeding program [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Agricola
Elephant grass is an allogamous perennial forage crop with asexual propagation, allowing plant breeders to explore heterosis and develop hybrids. However, selecting parents for diallel crossing schemes is a major hurdle in the development of hybrids.

Genetic control on the performance of common bean differential cultivars to Colletotrichum lindemuthianum races

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2007
The aim of this work was to perform genetic control on differential cultivars Michelite, Michigan Dark Red Kidney, Perry Marrow, Cornell 49-242, PI 207262, AB 136 and G 2333 and its diallel hybrids by using Hayman's methodology.

Griffing's Methods Comparison for General and Specific Combining Ability in Cucumber

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2012
A comparison among two forms of half-diallel analysis was made. The different half-diallel techniques used were Griffing's model I, method 2 and 4. These methods of diallel analysis were found to be interrelated.
