Two classes of group divisible partial diallel crosses

Biometrika, 1963
Various forms of the diallel cross have been used in plant and animal breeding, but this form of investigation requires a large number of lines or individuals which very often leads to rather unmanageable experiments. For this reason the concept of the partial diallel cross (PDC) has been introduced (Kempthorne, 1957; Gilbert, 1958; Hinkelmann & Stern,

Selecting the size of a diallel cross experiment

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1992
The size of a diallel cross experiment can be determined by using statistical tables and past diallel cross results; this will provide more flexibility in planning experiments and increase the opportunity to detect real differences.

Partial Diallel Cross in Multi‐environment

Biometrical Journal, 1978
AbstractAnalysis of partial diallel cross repeated over environments is discussed. Formulae are given to estimate the general combining ability effects and their interaction effects with environments. Analysis of variance table along with expected mean squares is given.

On Generation of Efficient Partial Diallel Crosses Plans

Biometrical Journal, 1990
AbstractSearch for obtaining efficient partial diallel crosses has been addressed. The complete diallel crosses have been divided into mutually exclusive basic connected partial diallel crosses. Combining the basic partial diallel crosses, any partial diallel crosses with desired mating‐replications has been obtained, and its efficiency factor ...

Analysis of diallel cross in Phaseolus aureus roxb

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1971
In a diallel cross of Phaseolus aureus involving five varieties, combining ability and gene action for grain yield, grains per pod and pods per plant were estimated. The study indicated that both general combining ability and specific combining ability effects were significant and important for all three traits.

A diallel cross in black spruce

Genome, 1987
A complete 7 × 7 diallel of black spruce (Picea mariana (Mill.) B.S.P.), without selfs, planted in three locations, was measured for height growth at several ages. Analysis using Griffing's method 3, model II, demonstrated that general combining ability (GCA) was the dominant genetic component of variation, although specific combining ability (SCA ...

Evaluation of circulant partial diallel crosses in maize

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1978
The present study was conducted in maize (Zea mays L.) on crosses among 20 diverse parents. The materials were evaluated in four different environments for eight characters. Combining ability analysis was carried out following diallel and partial diallel crosses.

Optimal partial triallel cross designs through diallel cross designs

Model Assisted Statistics and Applications, 2019
In this article we are presenting method of construction of three series of optimal partial triallel cross designs through complete diallel cross designs which have been obtained by nested balanced incomplete block designs.

A diallel cross for mating speeds inDrosophila melanogaster

Genetica, 1964
A diallel cross inDrosophila melanogaster for the mating speeds of previously unmated pairs aged 6 days was carried out for 6 inbred lines and their hybrids. Pairs were observed for 40 minutes. There was extreme hybrid vigour especially in mating frequency for ≤10 minutes but the degree of hybrid vigour was relatively smaller for ≤40 minutes ...
