Optimal parameters for efficient crossing-based dialog boxes
Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2008We present an empirical analysis of crossing-based dialog boxes. First, we study the spatial constraints required for efficient crossing-based interactions in the case of a simple multi-parameter dialog box. Through a series of 3 tasks, we establish the minimal value of the landing margin, the takeoff margin, and the column width.

In Chapter 16, you saw how to create a completely customized dialog box using the JDialog class. You also saw how to take advantage of the JOptionPane methods to quickly and easily display some simple, generalized dialog boxes. Now you are going to look at some dialog boxes that can be used to make your life as a developer significantly easier.

Talking Outside The Box: Film As a Stimulus for Dialogic Engagement Around Social Justice Issues
FORUM, 2023This article explores how film, as a pedagogic device, can be used as a stimulus for dialogic engagement around social justice issues such as human rights, conflict and equity. Based on findings from a doctoral research study – and illustrated with an example from the film, The Box 1 – it is argued that through dialogue, film can provide an inclusive ...

Eye Movement and Reaction Time are Both Important in Assessment of Dialog Box Usability
Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting, 2004Traditional usability metrics (accuracy and reaction time) were combined with eye movement patterns to study button placement and highlighting in dialog boxes. Participants made button-click responses based on the contents of the dialog box text. Traditional measures and eye movement patterns yielded different results: Reaction time analyses suggested

Designing intuitive dialog boxes in Windows environments
SPIE Proceedings, 2000There were analyzed some approaches to user interface design. Most existing interfaces seem to be difficult for understanding and studying for newcomers. There were defined some ways for designing interfaces based on psychology of computer image perception and experience got while working with artists and designers without special technique education ...
