Thermodynamic Aspects of Flagellar Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
1. The frequencies of the beat of cilia and flagella from various organisms have been determined at temperatures in the range 5-35°C. 2. Values of the activation enthalpy (ΔH{ddagger}, kcal./mole) and activation entropy (ΔS{ddagger}, e.u.) derived ...

Regulatory Context and Bureaucratic Policy Making: Illustrations From Payment System Regulation in Brazil

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how bureaucratic strategies for structuring the policy environment shape regulatory outcomes, focusing on the extent to which agencies achieve their original policy preferences. Drawing on resource dependence theory and bureaucratic politics, we conceptualize the policy environment in two dimensions: internal ...

In-wheel axial-flux SRM drive for light electric vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Revenues from global sales of light electric vehicles are expected to grow from $ 9.3 billion in 2017 to $ 23.9 billion in 2025. In order to boost this growth electric drives with better features and lower costs have to be developed.

When Being in the Minority Feels Threatening: Social Identity and the Reinforcement of Anti‐Vaccination Attitudes

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present research aims to contribute to the understanding of anti‐vaccination attitudes. We do this by analyzing the role of social identity and intergroup threat. Drawing on intergroup threat theory, we hypothesize that being informed that the general population is positive toward vaccines may be perceived as threatening to individuals ...

The chatbot's real self: On the archaeology of artificial personas Le vrai soi du chatbot: vers une archéologie des personnes artificielles

open access: yesJournal of Linguistic Anthropology, Volume 36, Issue 1, May 2026.
Abstract From the beginning of widespread public interactions with ChatGPT and other large language models, some users have seen the disfluencies of chatbots as opportunities for them to go on an archaeological search for an unfettered chatbot persona that they need to jailbreak. These are not claims of sentience, but rather of personhood.

Triangulating the Real Projective Plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the problem of computing a triangulation of the real projective plane P2, given a finite point set S={p1, p2,..., pn} as input. We prove that a triangulation of P2 always exists if at least six points in S are in general position, i.e., no ...

Pluripotent stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles: Cell type‐dependent effect on tumorigenicity in cancer cell lines

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from pluripotent stem cells have been reported to reprogram cancer cells to a more benign phenotype, due to its provision of an embryonic microenvironment. Here, we show that the effect of the EVs on the tumorigenicity of the cancer cell lines is cell type‐dependent.

On the Dirichlet Prior and Bayesian Regularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A common objective in learning a model from data is to recover its network structure, while the model parameters are of minor interest. For example, we may wish to recover regulatory networks from high-throughput data sources.

Can the Philosopher Change the World? The Enduring Relevance of Anticolonial Marxism in an Era of Decoloniality

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, 2026.
Abstract Decolonial theory (DT) has been advanced as a strategy for decolonisation alternative to 20th‐century anticolonialism, positioning decolonisation as an epistemic project rather than a historical‐material one. Here, I examine DT's arguments about anticolonialism: that it had a dogmatic bias towards nationalism and postcolonial state formation ...
