Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Seedless, Etchless Deposition of Nanocrystalline Diamond Coatings for Performance Improvements of Micro End Mills using Carbon Ion Implantation [PDF]
This study compares the cutting performance of (1) as-received uncoated, (2) acid etched plus seeded plus nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) coated, (3) carbon ion implanted (CII) plus NCD coated, and (4) only CII micro end ...

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

PGMweb: an online tool for visualizing the X-ray beam path through plane grating monochromators
We present here a newly developed software tool (called PGMweb) for computing and simulating the X-ray beam path through a plane grating monochromator (PGM), a key component in soft X-ray beamlines at modern synchrotron and free-electron laser facilities.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Research on chemical modification of nickel coating on diamond particles surface
A new nickel plating process for diamond wire is explored to eliminate the negative impact of dispersants on the production process of diamond wires. The surface of of Ni-plated diamond particles was first hydroxylated with hydrogen peroxide, and then ...

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
